Israeli tanks, military vehicles enter Syria’s Quneitra in new incursion
Israeli forces are carrying out near-daily incursions and land clearances in the Quneitra countryside of southwestern Syria, according to Syria TV.
Two tanks and three military vehicles crossed into the Samadaniyah area early on Sunday, patrolling before withdrawing about an hour later towards an Israeli base, the broadcaster said.
It reported similar incursions in recent days near Ain Ziwan, Rafid and the Yarmouk basin.
Israeli troops have bulldozed farmland and grazing pastures, and briefly cut a road in the area, the report said, adding that water and sewage networks and bridges over the Wadi al-Ruqqad had been damaged by heavy vehicles.
Quoting a local official, the report said Israel described the clearances as a precautionary security measure against explosives it feared were being planted by Hezbollah or Iran, though residents said no such fighters were present.
