Israeli forces shell Nabatieh hills in southern Lebanon
Israeli forces are shelling the Ali al-Taher hills on the outskirts of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, according to the country’s National News Agency.
The agency reported a “concentrated artillery bombardment” targeting high ground in the area.
On Monday, Israeli earthmovers demolished homes in the villages of Zawtar el-Charqiyeh and Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh while tanks advanced, marking the latest violation of the US-mediated ceasefire framework reached on June 26.

UNIFIL reports heaviest Israeli fire in months in southern Lebanon
Israeli forces fired 455 projectiles into southern Lebanon and breached Lebanese airspace 97 times between Friday and Sunday, the heaviest fire seen in months, according to the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, UNIFIL.
UNIFIL said Saturday alone accounted for 229 of those projectiles, “the highest single-day total since 21 June”.
The UN secretary-general’s deputy spokesperson, Farhan Haq, said that “most of the airspace violations came from drones, though helicopters and fighter jets were also involved”.
The UN says Israel’s activities violate Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted as the internationally agreed framework for peace and stability in southern Lebanon following the 2006 conflict.

Israeli military shells southern Lebanese town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah
Israeli forces continue intermittent artillery shelling on the town of Zawtar al-Sharqiyah in southern Lebanon, accompanied by heavy machinegun fire towards several neighborhoods, Lebanon’s National News Agency reports.
The attack came as UNIFIL, the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, reported that Israel fired 455 projectiles into southern Lebanon and breached Lebanese airspace 97 times from Friday to Sunday, marking the heaviest fire seen in months.

Iran slams Israeli ‘crimes’ in southern Lebanon
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has “strongly condemned the brutal attacks” by Israel on southern Lebanon over the past few days, which have resulted in deaths and injuries among civilians as well as the destruction of infrastructure and homes.
Baghaei’s remarks were carried by Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.
Israel intensified its attacks despite the end of a seventh round of Lebanese-Israeli talks, which concluded on Thursday in Rome under US sponsorship, with discussions focused on implementing a framework agreement reached on June 26.

Israeli drone attacks outskirts of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon
An Israeli drone has attacked the outskirts of the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, according to our colleagues on the ground.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or details on what was targeted.
Israel has continued its attacks on southern Lebanon over the past weeks, despite negotiations between Lebanon and Israel in Rome last week.
Israel has also imposed a so-called “Yellow Line” in southern Lebanon, entrenching its occupation of Lebanese territory, while continuing its attacks and raids.
On Monday, Israeli forces demolished homes in the southern villages of Zawtar al-Sharqiyeh and Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh as tanks advanced through the area.

Israeli drone hits paramedics in Lebanon’s Nabatieh city
The attack comes amid renewed Israeli aggression in southern Lebanon.
According to the country’s National News Agency, a drone targeted paramedics while they were transporting an injured person following an earlier drone attack on a vehicle in the University District of Nabatieh city, resulting in damage to the ambulances.

Lebanon Civil Defence says its firefighters targeted in Israeli drone attack
Lebanon’s Civil Defence says its personnel were targeted by an Israeli drone while responding to a fire in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon, as more details emerge about a series of attacks there earlier today.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the Lebanese General Directorate of the Civil Defence condemned the “targeting of Civil Defence personnel while performing their humanitarian duty”.
“While personnel from the General Directorate of the Civil Defence were extinguishing a grass fire in the Nabatieh area, they were targeted by a drone,” it said. The attack forced the firefighting teams to withdraw to a safe location, the statement added. No members of the team were injured.
As we previously reported, multiple Israeli drone attacks took place in Nabatieh earlier today. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said two civilians were injured in one of the attacks, while another targeted a rescue team from the Al-Risala Association and damaged an ambulance.

Israeli forces advance near southern Lebanon’s Aita al-Jabal village
Israeli military vehicles pushed from the village of Haddatha towards the eastern edge of Aita al-Jabal village in south Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil district, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
The advance on Tuesday was accompanied by machinegun fire sweeping Aita al-Jabal’s eastern outskirts, the agency said. The vehicles then pulled back to Haddatha, where they took up a position on a hill overlooking the village.
The incursion is the latest in a series of Israeli movements around Bint Jbeil, a border district that has seen repeated ground activity and shelling despite a fragile ceasefire.

Aoun says talks progressing as Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue
Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun says negotiations with Israel are “making progress”, but has insisted that his country will not accept any continued Israeli presence on its territory.
“There is no disagreement among the Lebanese on the goals, from the Israeli withdrawal and the return of the prisoners, to the reconstruction of what has been destroyed,” Aoun said, according to a statement from the Lebanese presidency following a meeting with a delegation from the Maronite Institution for Propagation.
“In the end, we will not allow Israel to remain, not even on a single inch of our land, nor a single soldier of its army to stay on our soil.”
Aoun said negotiations remained preferable to “the outcomes of the destructive war waged against us”, adding that Israeli attacks had been reduced since the signing of the framework for talks.
His comments come after Lebanese and Israeli officials held negotiations in Rome last week, while Israeli attacks on Lebanon have continued. As we have been reporting, Israeli drones hit the Nabatieh area multiple times today, wounding two civilians and targeting rescue and civil defence teams.
Meanwhile, large numbers of people in southern Lebanon remain unable to return to their homes amid Israel’s continued military presence and attacks.

US says new round of Israeli-Lebanese talks in Rome ‘in September’
The US will sponsor a new round of talks between Israel and Lebanon in early September in Italy’s capital, Rome, a US State Department official has said, according to AFP.
“The political track will reconvene in Rome in early September, and conversations will continue in Beirut, Jerusalem, and Washington in the interim,” the official told the news agency on condition of anonymity. “We feel good about the trajectory.”
The seventh round of US-mediated talks between Israel and Lebanon was held in Rome last week, the primary objective of which was to establish new “pilot zones” in southern Lebanon from which Israeli forces will begin withdrawing and the Lebanese army will assume control.

Lebanese citizen succumbs to wounds caused by Israeli drone strike
A man from Nabatieh, identified as Ali Sabah, died from wounds sustained when an Israeli drone targeted his car on the Doha-Kfar Rumman road, Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reports.
The strike came after Israeli forces targeted ambulance crews in Nabatieh earlier today as it evacuated a person wounded in an earlier strike on a car, damaging several ambulances, according to the agency.

Israel carries out ‘massive’ air attack on southern Lebanon: State media
The state-run National News Agency (NNA) reports that Israel has carried out a “massive” bombing on the village of Haddatha, in the Bint Jbeil district.
There was no information immediately provided by NNA on casualties resulting from this attack.
