Israeli forces search Gaza border area after fence cut found

The Israeli military has launched a search in the area around Kibbutz Zikim, near the northern Gaza border, after a cut was discovered in the community’s perimeter fence, local media reported.

The kibbutz’s security coordinator reportedly alerted the military after discovering the breach, prompting soldiers to search the area for potential suspects.

Israeli media cited military officials as saying there is no threat to the public, while Israel’s Army Radio reported, citing security sources, that there is no indication anyone crossed into Israel from Gaza.

Israeli attacks kill 1,257 people in Gaza since last year’s ‘ceasefire’

Over the past 48 hours, Gaza’s hospitals have received the bodies of two Palestinian people who succumbed to their injuries of previous Israeli attacks and six people who were injured in new Israeli attacks, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.

Since the “ceasefire” began in October last year, Israeli attacks have killed 1,257 people and wounded 4,131 others in near-daily attacks.

Overall, since the war began on October 7, 2023, Israeli attacks have killed 73,384 and injured 174,242 others.

Gaza ministry calls for immediate release of Doctor Hussam Abu Safia from Israeli detention

Munir al-Boursh, director general of Gaza’s Health Ministry, calls for Palestinian Doctor Hussam Abu Safia to be saved before it is “too late” as he continues to be held in an Israeli detention centre since December 27, 2024.

In a post on X, al-Boursh said that amid reports of Safia’s injuries to his head, eye and chest, the ongoing detention and lack of medical care have made his health condition a “source of extreme alarm that demands urgent action – not postponed statements”.

“Dr Hussam Abu Safia, who stayed by his patients’ side at Kamal Adwan Hospital in the bleakest of circumstances, now finds himself behind bars, stripped of his freedom, as fears grow for his physical safety and detention conditions,” he wrote.

“We hold the occupation authorities fully responsible for his life and safety, and we demand an urgent, independent, and comprehensive medical examination for him, ensuring he receives the necessary treatment,” al-Boursh added.

The ministry chief also called on the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, the UN, and medical and human rights groups to take action.

Under international humanitarian law (IHL) and international human rights law (IHRL):

• Geneva Convention IV, Article 18, civilian hospitals and medical units must be respected and protected under all circumstances and can never be the direct object of attack or siege.
• A hospital can only lose its protected status if it is being used, outside its humanitarian function, to commit "acts harmful to the enemy," and only after a formal warning with a reasonable time limit has gone unheeded. But the Israelis have tried to prove by staging and fabricating evidence.
• Forcing patients and staff to evacuate is permissible only as an absolute last resort for their safety, and sieges or attacks must not be used to forcibly displace civilian populations.
• Medical personnel dedicated to humanitarian duties must be respected, protected, and allowed to continue treating the sick and wounded.
• Under Geneva Convention IV, Article 49, individual or mass forcible transfers or deportations of protected persons from occupied territory into the territory of the occupying power are strictly forbidden, regardless of the motive.
• Arbitrary detention, incommunicado detention without charge or evidence, and extrajudicial demands for surrender violate basic tenets of international fair trial guarantees and human rights law.
• Torture and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment are prohibited at any time and in any place under customary international law, Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions, and the UN Convention Against Torture, with no exceptions allowed during armed conflict

Israeli forces continue attacks in Central Gaza, West Bank

Israeli military forces have been attacking Central Gaza’s Bureij camp with artillery shelling, reported the Palinfo news agency.

The Palestinian news agency reported that the Israeli forces raided several homes on the outskirts of Beita town, south of Nablus, in the occupied West Bank.

The forces also fired sound bombs during a raid in Qalqilya city in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli forces target northern Rafah with tank fire

Israeli forces have targeted the al-Shakush area, north of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, with intense tank fire, reported local Palinfo news agency.

Earlier, Israeli forces attacked central Gaza’s Bureij camp with artillery shelling.

Israeli colonists, troops launch new wave of attacks, arrests in West Bank

Israeli forces and colonists carried out a series of raids, arrests and attacks across the occupied West Bank on Friday, according to the Wafa news agency.

Three Palestinians were injured after being beaten by colonists in Beit Dajan, east of Nablus, Wafa said. In Abu Nujaym, southeast of Bethlehem, colonists opened fire, injuring a Palestinian, before attacking an ambulance that arrived to help him and pepper spraying its crew.

Israeli forces also arrested a 13-year-old boy after raiding his family home in Anza, south of Jenin, while another Palestinian was beaten and arrested during a raid on Beit Furik, east of Nablus.

Colonists attacked Palestinian homes and communities in the northern Jordan Valley and near Ramallah, while Israeli forces set up checkpoints, closed roads and carried out raids in Bethlehem, Jenin, Qalqilya, Tubas and other areas, Wafa reported.

Violence in the occupied West Bank has intensified sharply during 2026. By mid-July, about 850 Palestinians had been injured in colonist-related attacks since the start of the year, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with colonist violence accounting for more than half of Palestinian injuries in the West Bank.

Israeli forces set up a military checkpoint near the town of Ni’lin, west of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank this morning, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.

Citing local sources, Wafa said that soldiers established the checkpoint near the al-Mahalal area in Ni’lin, stopping residents’ vehicles and checking their identification cards. The operation caused severe traffic congestion.

According to a report issued by the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission, the total number of military checkpoints and gates across the occupied Palestinian territory has reached more than 916, including 243 gates erected after October 7, 2023.

It says the circumstances are under review and that it remains in contact with local communities and security forces in the area.

Israeli colonists attack Palestinian home near Bethlehem

Israeli colonists have attacked a Palestinian home east of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, smashing its windows, according to the Wafa news agency.

Separately, Israeli forces set up military checkpoints east and west of Bethlehem, where they stopped and searched Palestinian vehicles and checked passengers’ identification, the agency reported.

Israel’s continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territory is unlawful under international law, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has previously ruled.

Israeli military carries out further raids in occupied West Bank

Palestinians are reporting further Israeli raids across the occupied West Bank, including Israeli forces storming the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin.

The Israeli military has also continued leveling Palestinian-owned land in the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, to expand a recently established illegal Israeli colony outpost, according to the Wafa news agency.

Wafa said Israeli bulldozers have been working for several days in the Gharaba area, where the outpost was established several months ago on about 1 hectare (2.5 acres) of Palestinian-owned land.

The report said the outpost has since become a base for colonist attacks, including assaults on Palestinians, attempts to steal livestock and the destruction of crops, while Palestinians have been prevented from accessing their land.

Israeli colonists, soldiers unite to make life unbearable for Palestinians near Bethlehem

In Khalayel al-Louz, which is on the outskirts of Bethlehem city, has been tormented by several illegal colonist outposts. The Israeli colonists have set up their caravans, their water tanks, they brought in their livestock.

They use the land of the village to graze their sheep. They attack homes that are literally a stone’s throw away. Their windows of the homes have been smashed, their cars have been attacked.

These attacks turn life upside down because at the end of the day, Palestinians are not just defenseless. It’s not just that they have nobody to call. If they try to defend themselves against these attacks, then they are detained, shot at by the colonists or the occupation forces.

It doesn’t have to be an attack every day, it doesn’t even have to be an attack every week. The presence of these illegal outposts and the larger colony is an attack on their existence. This partnership between Israeli colonists and the Israeli army is what is daunting for Palestinians, what makes the reality here almost unbearable.

And certainly, the more it escalates, the more the right-wing government in Israel feels it can count on the support of colonists living in outposts like this to vote for them come October.

Israeli colonist attack Palestinian town near Hebron

Israeli colonists have attacked the town of Idhna near Hebron, besieging worshippers inside a mosque, smashing cars and assaulting residents.

Colonists also attacked the village of Abu Falah, near Ramallah, firing indiscriminately, she reported.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that several other villages in the Ramallah area also came under attack.

Settler violence has surged in recent years, with the UN warning that the settler violence has hit ‘all-time high’. About 190 attacks have been reported per month in the first four months of this year, according to the UN’s humanitarian aid office (OCHA).

The UN General Assembly passed a resolution in 2024, calling on Israel to end its “unlawful” occupation of the Palestinian territories. It urged Israel to end its occupation within 12 months, but since then the Israeli government has announced more colonies on Palestinian lands in violation of the international laws.

Palestinian properties face settler attacks in occupied West Bank

Palestinians in Khalayel al-Louz in the occupied West Bank say they face daily attacks by Israeli settlers from nearby outposts and settlements.

Residents are unable to access or farm their land and cannot graze their livestock, while others have been assaulted and homes and vehicles damaged.

Palestinian body says Israel plans to build 627 new units in illegal West Bank colony

The Wall and Colony Resistance Commission, a Palestinian government body that tracks Israeli colony expansion and attacks in the occupied West Bank, says Israel has issued a tender for the construction of 627 new colony units near al-Bireh, with bids due by the end of next month.

The units are to be built in Israel’s Kokhav Ya’akov colony, which the Wall and Colony Resistance Commission says will “deepen the separation between Jerusalem and its Palestinian surroundings and the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate”.

It said the project is part of Israel’s broader “colony expansion” strategy, altering the territorial landscape of the West Bank.
