Israeli troops advance deeper into Deraa province in Syria

Israeli forces have set up new checkpoints in Deraa province in southern Syria and advanced deeper into the area with military vehicles, the Syrian state news agency SANA is reporting.

Israeli troops established a second checkpoint near the village of Sreyeh Jamlah in the western countryside of Deraa, 200 meters from another checkpoint installed yesterday.

At least five Israeli military vehicles moved into the village of Abidin, also in the western countryside of Deraa, where forces set up two checkpoints in the village and searched passers-by.

Syria’s Foreign Ministry ‘strongly condemns’ Israeli attacks, incursions

Syria’s Foreign Ministry has condemned Israeli incursions into the southern Syrian provinces of Quneitra and Deraa, as well as artillery shelling in the area, which the ministry said “terrorised civilians”.

“The attacks constitute a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the ministry said in a statement shared by the SANA news agency.

“The continued attacks undermine efforts to promote security and stability, increase the suffering of civilians in the affected areas, and risk further escalation and tension across the region.”

New Israeli assault in southern Syria forces families to flee their homes

The Syrian government has condemned overnight Israeli attacks in southern Syria, as residents near the occupied Golan Heights were forced to flee their homes.

The latest attack took place on Sunday in Abdin, a village in western Deraa province, where residents attempted to block the advance of an Israeli army unit.

Israeli forces then fired shells close to civilian homes, with families fleeing to neighboring villages during the night.
