Abbas Araghchi has held separate meetings in Tehran with delegation from Hezbollah before the funeral for the late supreme leader.

The top diplomat met a Hezbollah delegation led by senior political official and former Lebanese lawmaker Muhammad Fneish, who conveyed condolences from Secretary-General Naim Qassem, according to the IRNA news agency. Fneish thanked Iran for its support for Lebanon and commended Tehran’s military and diplomatic performance during recent hostilities with the US and Israel.

For his part, Araghchi praised Hezbollah’s resistance and paid tribute to slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. He said Iran would continue pursuing an end to the war in Lebanon in line with the memorandum of understanding agreed with the US, IRNA reported.

Army removes unexploded Israeli bombs in southern Lebanon

The Lebanese army says it continues to neutralize undetonated munitions in areas attacked by Israeli forces.

In a statement, the military said specialized units dismantled four unexploded bombs in the towns of Mifdoun in Nabatieh, as well as Baraachit, Kfar Dunin and Shaqra in Bint Jbeil district.

The army renewed its call for residents in areas hit by Israeli attacks to “exercise extreme caution” and report any suspicious objects to the nearest military post.

Netanyahu denies Trump asked Israel not to target tunnels in Lebanon

The ICC wanted war criminal has denied reports that Trump asked him not to act against what he called “terror tunnels” in Lebanon.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said, “I heard it was said in the media that President Trump asked not to act against terror tunnels in Lebanon. This is a legend, fake news,” Ynet News quoted him as saying.

“He didn’t say anything to me about it, and I didn’t ask him. We operate according to our considerations.”

  • Towns and villages under Israeli occupation are witnessing home demolitions and the destruction of public infrastructure.

Israeli army chief threatens ‘rapid attack’ if Lebanon ceasefire violated

Israel’s military boss has addressed troops in occupied southern Lebanon and vowed a “rapid attack” if the ceasefire is breached.

“The terrorist organization Hezbollah, with Iranian funding and direction, has been building underground tunnels in the area for decades to threaten northern communities. Our forces now control key areas above ground and these routes underground,” the army’s Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir told soldiers near Beaufort Castle.

“The Lebanese army is required to fulfill its commitment to the historic agreement that was signed and to act to cleanse the area of Hezbollah terrorists. At the same time, the [military] will continue to act decisively to remove threats from Lebanese territory and is prepared to move to a rapid attack if the ceasefire is violated.”

Lebanese mufti warns against ‘army within the army’

Lebanon’s senior Shia mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, has warned against what he called “a game of an army within the army”.

The pro-Hezbollah cleric said Lebanon is undergoing a “political catastrophe” and blamed the current authorities for what he called a collapse of national sovereignty.

The cleric accused the ruling political faction of signing a “document of surrender”, highlighting Israeli media commentary that he said described Lebanon as the first Arab state to acknowledge Israeli occupation of its land.

He warned against granting Israel any “security or sovereign concessions” saying Israel emerged from the recent war strategically weaker.

He also rejected calls for Lebanon to consolidate weapons under a single state military.

Latest Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon

Lebanon’s National News Agency is reporting Israeli attacks in the following areas in southern Lebanon:

  • Al-Tayri in Bint Jbeil district
  • Qantara
  • Al-Hariq neighborhood between Kfar Tebnit and Nabatieh al-Fawqa
  • Al-Mansouri

There are also reports of Israeli drones flying over the Tyre area.

Increasing death toll from Israeli attacks

Israeli attacks in Lebanon since March 2 have killed at least 4,304 people and wounded 12,203, says Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

Israeli forces target outskirts of Nabatieh

This latest strike happened on the outskirts of the city of Nabatieh.

This is one of the large cities in southern Lebanon. It has been the focus of intensive Israeli army activity – assaults, attempted ground advances – just before that framework agreement came into effect.

And there has been continued Israeli army activity there afterwards as well. They have been trying to seize this area called the Ali al-Taher Hill, which is just outside Nabatieh.

In terms of this strike, I’ve been in touch with people in the hospital, and they say no casualties have been brought in yet, but civil defense teams say they can’t actually reach the area where that strike happened.

They’re calling it a sort of restricted zone. What they mean by that is that anyone or anything that kind of moves around that area is liable to be hit by the Israeli military, and we have this situation in southern Lebanon that has been ongoing over the past few months of this war.

Netanyahu claims Lebanese Christian villages seek annexation

Netanyahu has claimed that some Christian villages in southern Lebanon had asked to be annexed by Israel in order to be protected from Hezbollah.

Israel has been carrying out an intense campaign of air strikes and a ground invasion in southern Lebanon, occupying swaths of territory.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 4,303 people have been killed across Lebanon since March 2, when the fighting resumed.
