Israel ramps up arrests in the occupied West Bank

Israel has arrested at least three Palestinian citizens in Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian news agency Wafa.

Security officials told Wafa that Israeli forces stormed into the city at dawn on Friday and arrested Awni Rajab Tawfiq al-Sharif from al-Maajin neighbourhood, Hamza Abdul Rahman Bana from Hajjah Afifa Street, and Haitham al-Masri from Asira Street, after raiding their homes.

Israeli arrests in the occupied West Bank have surged since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza in 2023. According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, Israeli forces arrested 32 people across the occupied West Bank on Thursday.

Israeli colonists attack Sinjil town in occupied West Bank

Clashes have erupted after Israeli colonists attacked the outskirts of the occupied West Bank town of Sinjil.

Residents say repeated Israeli military raids and road closures have left the town isolated behind iron gates and earth mounds.

Israel kills one person in northern Gaza

An Israeli drone attack has killed at least one person in Gaza.

The attack took place in the city of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, a source at the al-Shifa hospital said.

Israel kills three Palestinians in Gaza

Israeli drone attacks across Gaza have killed at least three people, medical sources in the enclave told our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic.

Seventeen people have also been injured in the attacks, which began at dawn today.

Aerial surveillance across Gaza ‘has not stopped’

Drone strikes are happening everywhere.

Over a span of one hour, four attacks took place in Gaza city and three more in the central area of this strip – mainly Deir el-Balah city as well as the Nuseirat refugee camp. It (attacks) happened within a very short span of time.

It is unclear whether this is part of a larger military operation or offensive on the Gaza strip by the Israeli military. There isn’t any official statement by the military but there has been a scale up of these drone attacks across the strip.

It is important to point out that these drones have not stopped hovering across the strip. They hover at a dangerously low level in Gaza city towards the north, towards the western part of the city and the sea port area…

The aerial surveillance across the Gaza Strip has not stopped over the past week.

On a good day you would spot three or four (drones) in the area. Some of these are reconnaissance aircraft. Others are armed with missiles and several others are just buzzing around causing stress and panic.

For a lot of people, simple and daily errands or a walk in the street involves so much risk and very serious decision making on whether it is worth it to be outside or not due to the increased level of these attacks.

Israel kills at least six Palestinians across Gaza

Israel has killed at least six Palestinians including two women across Gaza.

Medical sources in the enclave have said that the Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire which began at dawn today.

Israel claims it killed Hamas commander in Gaza

The Israeli army says its forces and the Israeli security agency Shin Bet have killed a Hamas commander in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza.

In a statement, the army claimed Anas Mahmoud Ahmad Hamdan was killed on Thursday, calling him the “right-hand man” of senior Hamas leaders.

The army added that Hamdan was a “central figure” in holding captives in the Gaza Strip and in the process of returning them to Israel.

Hamas has not yet commented on the alleged death of its commander.

The skies above Gaza are filled with drones

There is no regard for the ceasefire, and just within the past 30 minutes, a funeral procession was taking place in one of the mosques in Nuseirat Refugee Camp.

As a group of people who were participating were coming out of the mosque, a drone strike targeted them.

Al-Awda Hospital has confirmed that seven people so far have been confirmed killed.

The footage from the bomb site is quite distressing. It shows grieving family members who saw their relatives among those who were critically injured or killed right on the spot.

This is just the latest of these attacks.

Six other Palestinians were killed in drone strikes, either here in Gaza City or in the central area. One woman was killed by a quad-copter in the northern part of the Strip.

All this in addition to the ongoing destruction of remaining infrastructure and physical structures in the city of Khan Younis, where the Israeli military is clearing out the remaining facilities and infrastructure; it’s just turning into a vast field of rubble.

Hamas condemns Israeli attack on Gaza funeral that killed at least 7

Hamas has condemned an Israeli attack on a funeral in Gaza’s Nusseirat refugee camp, which killed at least seven mourners today and wounded another 22, according to sources at Al-Awda Hospital cited by the Associated Press.

Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat refugee camp confirmed the number of casualties to AP, saying people were struck at the funeral for a Palestinian killed in an Israeli strike earlier today.

“This heinous crime takes place while the aggressor regime, through its systematic and continuous violation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, continues to kill and terrorisee innocent citizens in front of the eyes of mediators and the international community”, said the Hamas statement.

Happened in the occupied West Bank

Reported by the official Palestinian Wafa news agency:

  • Israeli colonists attacked Palestinian residents and international activists and fired stun grenades at them in the village of Jurish, south of Nablus.
  • A Palestinian was injured after being shot at by Israeli police, and another was detained in occupied East Jerusalem.
  • Colonists attacked the outskirts of the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah, before dawn and set fire to agricultural crops.
  • Colonists vandalized electricity poles on the outskirts of the town of Beita, south of Nablus.
  • Israeli forces detained three Palestinians during a raid on the city of Nablus before dawn.

Two Palestinian children injured in settler attack

Two children have been injured after colonists attacked a vehicle travelling on the road between the village of al-Lubban Asharqiya and Salfit in the occupied West Bank, Wafa is reporting.

The news outlet, citing local sources, said the two brothers sustained several head injuries after the car was pelted with stones.

Colonists are Israeli citizens who live illegally on Palestinian land.

More than 700,000 colonists – 10 percent of Israel’s population – live in illegal colonies and outposts spread across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The Israeli government has openly funded and built colonies, and Israeli authorities give their colonists in the occupied West Bank about $5.6m a year to monitor, report and restrict Palestinian construction in Area C, which is administered solely by Israel and comprises more than 60 percent of the West Bank.

The UN has condemned the colonies through multiple resolutions and votes, but the US has provided diplomatic cover to Israel for decades, with Washington consistently using its veto power at the UN to protect Israel from diplomatic censure.
