More Democrats say they’ll back vote to end funding to Israel

US Congressman Greg Casar, who leads progressive House Democrats, has publicly voiced his support for an amendment to block some $3.3bn in funding to Israel’s military.

“It is past time for us to end aid used to commit genocide in Gaza, kill innocents in Lebanon and beyond, and help drag us into war with Iran,” Casar said in a post on X.

Representative Ro Khanna, who was recently detained by Israeli colonists in the occupied West Bank, has also said he will support the amendment.

“I cannot vote for aid to a country that committed genocide and has used tax dollars to detain Americans like me,” said Khanna.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reports that the death toll from an Israeli helicopter air strike on a home in the central Gaza Strip city of Deir al-Balah has risen to four, including a six-year-old child.

According to medical sources, the strike directly targeted the family home at dawn on Wednesday, killing 33-year-old Omar Sami Ahmad Abu Qasim, his wife Asmaa Ghazi Abu Qasim, and their six-year-old daughter, Habiba Omar Sami Abu Qasim.

According to the Palestinian Wafa news agency, Israeli forces and colonists have continued their campaign of raids, assaults, and detentions throughout the occupied West Bank.
  • Dheisheh camp, South of Bethlehem: Israeli forces stormed the camp and raided a large number of homes. They detained 25 Palestinians for several hours, subjecting them to field interrogations before eventually releasing them.
  • Beit Dajan, east of Nablus: Israeli colonists infiltrated the al-Aqaba area on the outskirts of the town early on Wednesday morning, where they vandalized property by slashing the tires of several vehicles parked outside residents’ homes.
  • Nablus: Israeli forces conducted early morning raids on several homes in Beita and al-Lubban Asharqiya, located south of Nablus, resulting in the detention of two residents.
  • Beita, south of Nablus: Colonists attacked the al-Dahra area on theoutskirts of the town and cut down electricity poles, cutting off power to multiple homes. Gaza surgeon yet another among 15 doctors held by Israel

The last time Nadia Almukayed saw her husband, Dr Hassan Khalil Almukayed, was inside the Gaza hospital he had refused to leave.

By October 2024, Israel’s genocidal war on the Palestinian enclave had closed in on the Almukayed family, including his father and other relatives.

As Israeli forces intensified their assault on northern Gaza, the family found itself trapped inside the region’s Kamal Adwan Hospital, where Hassan worked as a vascular surgeon.

“We could not evacuate northern Gaza quickly,” Nadia said. “We moved from one place to another in the north until we became trapped inside Kamal Adwan Hospital.”

Hassan is one of at least 15 Palestinian doctors from Gaza currently in Israeli detention, the most prominent being Kamal Adwan Hospital’s director, Hussam Abu Safia.

Death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza rises

The Palestinian Health Ministry says 12 bodies have been brought to hospitals in Gaza and one wounded person has died over the latest 24-hour reporting period.

Eighteen people were also injured in Israeli military attacks over that time, a ministry statement added.

“There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the roads,” it said, adding that ambulances and Palestinian Civil Defence crews are trying to reach them.

Since the October “ceasefire”, at least 1,123 Palestinians have been killed and 3,616 wounded in Israeli attacks.

Qassam Brigades special forces commanders killed in Gaza: Israeli army

The two commanders killed on Tuesday night belonged to the Nukhba forces unit of Hamas’s armed wing, according to an Israeli army claim.

Ali Shamlakh and Nasser Luah were killed in northern Gaza, the statement said, accusing them of posing “an immediate threat” to Israeli forces in the area.

Israel accused of killing Gaza civil officials to destabilize besieged enclave

Despite a “ceasefire” agreed in October, analysts say Israel’s ongoing attacks aim to prevent a Palestinian recovery, sabotage Trump’s plan for the besieged enclave and pave the way for permanent occupation.

The signing ceremony was attended by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and the Board of Peace envoy for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov.

Palestinian homes sealed off by Israeli military restrictions

Residents of Khirbet Umm al-Khair in the occupied West Bank say an Israeli army order imposed after a series of colonist terror attacks has left families cut off from their sheep pen, bathroom and parts of their home.

They say the measures are part of growing pressure to force them from their village.

Israeli settlers attack, threaten Palestinians near Hebron

Israeli forces threatened to seize the sheep of Palestinian shepherds east of Bethlehem if they returned to the area to graze their livestock, Wafa news agency reports.

Colonists and Israeli forces have often threatened Palestinian shepherds, including physical attacks and theft of their herds.

Colonists also verbally abused residents in the town of Surif, north of Hebron.

Rights groups sue Trump administration, allege ICC sanctions violate Constitution

Two human rights groups are suing the Trump administration, alleging that US sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) violate the US Constitution.

Democracy for the Arab World Now and Taxpayers Against Genocide say the sanctions prevent them from advocating on behalf of Palestinians, including by making submissions to the ICC, or from engaging with individuals sanctioned by the US for fear they could face fines or imprisonment.

“The Trump administration is using the blunt instrument of economic sanctions not only to punish human rights defenders but to police the political expression of millions of Americans,” Omar Shakir, executive director of Democracy for the Arab World Now, said in a statement.

Last year, the Trump administration sanctioned the ICC in a bid to pressure the court to refrain from investigating alleged war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza. On Monday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a plan to dismantle the ICC.

The Palestine Red Crescent transported the child to a nearby hospital for treatment.
