Incidents in the occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have maintained their operations involving raids and detentions across the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reports.

• Beit Furik, east of Nablus: Two Palestinian men, aged 28 and 48, were injured and required treatment by the Red Crescent after being beaten during an Israeli settler attack on local lands.
• Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron: Nine Palestinians suffered bruises and tear gas inhalation when Israeli forces and settlers attacked residents and attempted to steal a flock of sheep. A 15-year-old child was detained by Israeli forces during the incident.
• Jenin: Israeli forces raided the Abu Dhaheer and al-Jabariyat neighbourhoods, where they occupied a residential rooftop to set up a military post and deployed sound bombs near homes.
• Huwarah, south of Hebron: A settler attack left multiple residents, including women and children, suffering from bruises and gas inhalation. Israeli forces arrested three Palestinians during the raid.
• Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah: Israeli forces raided a family home, brutally assaulting family members and firing toxic gas canisters inside the residence, causing several individuals to suffer from gas inhalation.

Israeli army vandalizes home in Nablus, arrests one Palestinian

The Israeli army has arrested a man from Nablus, in the occupied West Bank, reported the Palestinian news agency Wafa.

The report added that Israeli forces raided the city about dawn, surrounded a residential building on Tal Street and arrested Malek Abdo after vandalizing his home.

Rate of displacement in occupied West Bank doubling, UN says

At least 67 Palestinians have been displaced by demolitions in the occupied West Bank this month, and two dozen structures have been demolished, according to the latest figures from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

It says Israeli authorities demolish these structures for lacking building permits “which are nearly impossible for Palestinians to obtain”.

OCHA added that settler attacks and demolitions due to a lack of these permits this year have displaced more than 3,200 Palestinians, “an average of 17 people per day, double the daily rate over the preceding three years”.

Happened in the occupied West Bank

• Settlers have destroyed a farm in the al-Masoudiya area, northwest of Nablus.
  In Khirbet Masoud, south of Jenin, settlers released their livestock onto agricultural land, damaging crops and trees.
• In the village of al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah, settlers grazed their livestock on Palestinian lands, protected by Israeli forces.
• Settlers also attacked the crews of the Qabalan municipality, south of Nablus, while they were extending an electricity line to a house.
• The Israeli army arrested a young man, Mahmoud Labib Nawasra, from the village of Fahma, south of Jenin. The forces raided his family’s house and detained his father to pressure Nawasra to surrender.
• The Palestinian Red Crescent has received four people wounded in settler attacks in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.

Gaza death toll rises

The Palestinian Health Ministry says seven bodies were brought to hospitals in Gaza in the last 48 hours, while 28 people have also been wounded in that period.

“There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the roads,” the ministry said, as ambulances and civil defense teams are currently unable to reach them.

Since the October “ceasefire”, at least 1,098 Palestinians have been killed and 3,535 wounded by Israeli attacks.

Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza has killed at least 73,221 people and wounded 173,643 since October 2023.

One killed, several wounded by Israeli drone attack in central Gaza

A drone attack on a vehicle driving west of Nuseirat camp has killed one person and wounded several others, an ambulance and emergency service source reports.

Four Israeli colonists arrested after allegedly attacking CNN media team: Israeli police

Four Israeli colonists have been taken into custody after they allegedly attacked a vehicle carrying a CNN media crew in the town of Sinjil in the occupied West Bank, reports The Times of Israel.

The newspaper cites Israeli police as saying they were called to the scene over a report that the settlers had obstructed and damaged the media team’s car.

Israeli police officers detained four of the settlers and seized their vehicle, in which they found clubs and a knife, police said, according to the publication.

As we reported earlier, Israeli settlers have carried out several other attacks in the occupied West Bank today, including destroying a farm in the al-Masoudiya area and wounding four people in Masafer Yatta.

US lawmaker Ro Khanna says he was detained by armed Israeli settlers during West Bank visit

US Congressman Ro ⁠Khanna has said Israeli settlers wielding US-made rifles detained him as he made a visit to the occupied West Bank earlier this week.

Khanna told Reuters that his group’s van was surrounded by Israeli settlers wielding M4 rifles on Wednesday as he toured a part of the southern West Bank where Israeli settler attacks are frequent.

“We were at a village that Israeli settlers had destroyed, they had destroyed the school, they had destroyed that village, and we were just looking at it,” Khanna, ⁠a progressive lawmaker from California, told Reuters.

“And these hoodlums come in with machine guns – M4, an American-made machine gun – and they detain us. They block off the road. And then they call the [Israeli military] and the [Israeli military] is on their side, not on the side of the Americans,” Khanna said.

In a post on X, Khanna said that Israeli military forces “continued our detention” once they arrived, adding that they “made a huge mistake”.

An aide to Khanna who was in the group, Cameron Kasky, said they were held for more than an hour and made appeals to the US embassy in Jerusalem for help. A group of officers ‌who appeared to be police eventually intervened, leading to their release, Kasky said.

US Congressman condemns harassment by Israeli colonists

US Congressman Ro ⁠Khanna said his delegation were detained by Israeli colonists during their visit to the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.

“I saw the arrogance in the eyes of those settlers. Twenty-one and twenty-two-year-olds with guns, laughing that they had detained us,” Khanna said in a Reuters interview.

He also criticized the “arrogance” of Israeli soldiers who he said later showed up and “continued our detention”.

“The arrogance of those young [Israeli military] soldiers that my tax dollars are funding,” Khanna said. “Having no respect for the fact that they were detaining Americans. No respect for the fact that there was an American Congressperson in that bus.”

Palestinian killed by Israeli forces in Gaza

Israeli gunfire has killed a Palestinian man in Khan Younis near an area controlled by the military, emergency service sources are reporting.

Israeli forces have been building permanent, heavily fortified military posts in Gaza instead of withdrawing as agreed in the ‘ceasefire’ deal last October.

Israeli forces carry out demolitions in Khan Younis

The Israeli military is carrying out demolitions in an area of Khan Younis under its control.

Israel has been carrying out home demolitions as leading Israeli politicians say they are now ready to settle Gaza. More than 90 percent of the Gaza Strip has been destroyed, and Israeli forces are in control of 80 percent of the besieged territory.

‘Despised at home and abroad’: Israeli antigovernment protesters rail against Netanyahu

Hundreds of Israelis have taken to the streets in weekly antigovernment demonstrations in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv today, according to Israeli media reports.

Israel’s Haaretz newspaper reported that approximately 1,000 people took part in protests in Tel Aviv, criticizing Netanyahu’s government and the war in Gaza.

The Times of Israel said that the rallies were organized by the Pro-Democracy Protest Movement, which issued a statement describing Netanyahu as “a con man and a total failure”.

“He is despised at home and abroad. He is a liability to the US-Israel alliance, the Israeli people and the Jewish diaspora,” said the statement cited by the Times of Israel.

Gaza’s aid truck drivers protest the killing of their colleagues

Aid truck drivers in Gaza are protesting after Israeli forces shot and killed their colleague, Ahmed Salim, while on the job on Wednesday.

Salim’s brother, Khader Salim, said the aid delivery driver was unarmed and had his hands raised when he was shot by an Israeli soldier who had summoned him.

“Our people’s lives depend on us,” said Nahed Shuhayber, president of Gaza’s private transport association. “Even if we die, and people among us die, we cannot stop our work because our people are alive and are determined to live.”
