Israeli attacks kill six in Gaza

Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip have killed at least six Palestinians.

Two people were killed and several others injured when an Israeli drone struck central Gaza’s Nuseirat camp on Thursday, according to Gaza’s civil defence. Four others were killed in attacks elsewhere in the Strip.

One attack hit a car in a densely populated area of Gaza City, killing at least one person.

“This street is considered one of the most busiest streets in Gaza City, as it was full of commercial stores and supermarkets,” Moath al-Kahlout reported. “It is also full of displaced Palestinians.”

Earlier on Thursday, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said at least eight people had been killed in 24 hours, with 17 others injured. It did not provide additional information on the circumstances of the casualties.

The continued killings come despite Israel and Hamas agreeing to a ceasefire on October 10, 2025.

“The Israeli army continues to breach the ceasefire agreement since day one of the ceasefire,” al-Kahlout reported. “We are talking about more than 3,000 breaches to the ceasefire.”

Palestine to hold first legislative elections in 20 years

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has announced that legislative elections will be held in late November, as his government comes under mounting international pressure to demonstrate its legitimacy.

Abbas issued a decree on Thursday declaring the election date for November 28 in all Palestinian territories, including the occupied West Bank, occupied East Jerusalem and Gaza.

If the vote goes ahead, it will be the first in 20 years.

The last legislative elections in the Palestinian territory were held in 2006, when Hamas secured a shock victory. The result triggered a political split with Abbas’s previously dominant Fatah party, culminating in Hamas taking control of Gaza in 2007.

“This is understood to be a consequence, an outcome if you will, of the dialogue between the Palestinian president, the Palestinian leadership and foreign countries, namely powerful countries,” said Nour Odeh, reporting from Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The strike killed Mohammed al-Wahidi, himself a Palestinian, on the eve of the Egypt vs Argentina match on Tuesday, along with three other people, including two ⁠young passers-by, siblings aged 10 and 8, in the Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, medics said.

UK’s Andy Burnham apologizes for Labour’s handling of Israel’s war on Gaza

The United Kingdom’s likely next leader, Andy Burnham, has apologized for his Labor Party’s response to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.

“I know many people feel that at the start of Israel’s military action in Gaza my party didn’t get it right and I am sorry about that. The response has too often not been good enough. We need to do better,” Burnham told The Guardian newspaper.

Early in its bloody assault, Labor Party leader Keir Starmer said during a radio interview that Israel has the right to cut off access to water, food and electricity for Palestinians in Gaza.

Burnham said there is increasing evidence that Israel has committed war crimes in Gaza, however, he avoided using the word genocide. “It must be for the international courts to determine, rather than politicians,” he said.

Israeli forces, colonists raid Nablus in the occupied West Bank

Israeli colonists and forces have raided several neighborhoods in the city of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Security sources told the Palestinian news agency Wafa that Israeli military vehicles stormed the city and soldiers entered the Old City, the Eastern Complex, and the Western area.

Israeli troops also raided the al-Nassariya and al-Badhan areas north of Nablus.

There are an estimated 500,000 Israelis among roughly three million Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. Palestinians have for years reported vandalism, damage to farmland, and attacks linked with Israeli settlement expansion.

Americans’ support for Israelis drops sharply after Gaza genocide

Americans have become markedly less favorable towards Israelis since the war on Gaza, while attitudes towards Palestinians have remained largely unchanged, according to a new survey.

Only 52 percent of Americans now hold a favorable view of the Israeli people, down from 67 percent in 2022. The survey also found majorities hold unfavorable views of the Israeli government, the Palestinian Authority, and Hamas, with negative views of Israel’s government rising sharply in recent years.

The generational divide is even starker. Among Americans under 30, 58 percent view Palestinians favorably compared with just 32 percent who express a positive view of Israelis.

The gap is widest among young Democrats, 72 percent of whom view Palestinians favorably while only 26 percent say the same about Israelis.

Young Republicans now view Palestinians and Israelis at similar levels, marking a sharp shift from just a few years ago when they were significantly more supportive of Israelis.

Israeli colonists attack Palestinian family in occupied West Bank

Seven Palestinians, including two children, have been wounded after Israeli colonists attacked a family in the Masafer Yatta area of the occupied West Bank’s South Hebron Hills.

Colonists assaulted the Palestinian family with pepper spray and beat them close to their home, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

Israeli soldiers who arrived at the scene protected the colonists and also joined the assault, reports added. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it transferred the wounded to hospital where doctors treated them for pepper spray inhalation and bruising.

Israeli attacks on Gaza kill 6 Palestinians

Israeli strikes and gunfire across Gaza have killed at least six people, Gaza’s civil defense agency and health officials say.

An Israeli drone strike on Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza killed two people and wounded several others. Israeli attacks elsewhere killed four more Palestinians.

Israel arrests 2 Palestinians in occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have arrested two people near Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank as the crackdown on Palestinians continues.

Security sources told the Wafa news agency that Sami Daoud al-Zeer, in 60s and mayor of Jannata, and Adel Daoud al-Asakrah, 49, from the al-Asakrah area, were detained after their homes were raided by soldiers.

Israeli troops also entered Beit Falouh, Rafida, Abu Njeim, al-Ubeidiya, al-Shawawra, and Dar Salah to the east, as well as the Dheisheh camp to the south of Bethlehem.

Family gets body from Israel after 9 days in the open in Gaza

Emotional scenes have taken place in Gaza as a woman received the body of her son who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers after approaching the “Yellow Line” occupation zone.

Mohammed Abu Khammash was killed by soldiers east of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza nine days ago. His relatives were then forced to wait that long before being allowed to retrieve his body that lay exposed in the open.

The remains arrived in a black bag, badly decomposed.

Israeli army says it killed Hamas commander in Gaza strike

Israel’s military says it killed a Hamas commander it alleged took part in the October 7, 2023, attacks.

It identified the Palestinian as Yahya Saeed Muhammad Hamdan, head of the Qassam Brigades Nukhba Forces unit that attacked Reim, a kibbutz in southern Israel. He was killed in southern Gaza on Thursday, the army said.

“The terrorist posed an immediate threat to our forces operating in the area and was neutralized in a precision air strike,” it said in a statement.

There was no immediate comment from Hamas.

Israeli forces detain Al-Aqsa Mosque religious leader after Friday prayers

Israeli forces detained Sheikh Mohammad Hussein, the grand mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, after Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque, Wafa reported.

Local sources said Israeli troops took Hussein into custody shortly after he delivered the Friday sermon and led prayers at the mosque.

No further details were immediately available about the reason for his detention or where Israeli forces had taken him.

An Israeli drone attack has hit the courtyard of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya, injuring several people, sources at Gaza’s emergency services have reported.

Palestinian health ministry says two staff injured in Israeli attack on Kamal Adwan Hospital

Two staff members at Kamal Adwan Hospital have been injured by an Israeli quad copter drone, which dropped an explosive device on the hospital’s premises, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said in a statement.

The ministry condemned the attack, saying Israel’s systematic targeting of health facilities and medical personnel endangers the lives of staff and patients.

It called upon the United Nations and all international and humanitarian organisations to provide urgent protection to health facilities and put an end to Israel’s ongoing violations.

Israel claims killing two Hamas commanders in Gaza

The Israeli military is claiming it killed two Hamas commanders this week in strikes on Gaza.

They were identified as Khalil Jamal Khalil Manna, a commander in the Weapons Production Headquarters of Hamas’s military wing, and Osama Walid Deeb Muhareb, a commander in Hamas’ Nuseirat Battalion.

The continued killings come despite Israel and Hamas agreeing to a ceasefire on October 10, 2025. The Palestinian group has yet to issue a confirmation.

Netanyahu needs an enemy closer to Israeli elections: Turkish FM

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told UAE state media that Turkiye and Israel have no reason to “have an open conflict”.

Speaking to The National, Fidan said, “Netanyahu and some people, as they get closer to the elections, need an enemy. After they wage war on Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran, they need another enemy to get somebody to pity them.”

In recent days, Israeli prime minister has targeted Turkiye, saying Erdogan wants to “eliminate the state of Israel”.

Israeli colonist terror attack injures Palestinians near Hebron

Eight Palestinians have been injured in a colonist terror attack in the Khirbet Asafi area of Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

The area has come under repeated settler attacks over the years as Israeli settlers attempt to drive out local Palestinian communities. Their struggle to resist eviction has been featured in the Oscar-winning documentary, No Other Land.

EU countries to discuss trade ban on Israeli colonies

EU foreign ministers will discuss imposing an import ban on products from Israeli colonies, following pressure from various member states to take action, according to AFP news agency.

Diplomats said a debate in Brussels on Monday is not expected to yield any concrete decisions, but would help gauge whether there is enough support to move forward.

The EU is under pressure to act, and the bloc’s executive this week laid out options to curb trade with colonies, including a ban. There is disagreement in Brussels as to whether that move would need backing from all 27 member states, or just a weighted majority.

Several EU countries, including Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain, have already imposed their own trade restrictions on Israeli colonies in the occupied Palestinian territories, which are considered illegal under international law.

Israel bans Jerusalem’s grand mufti from Al-Aqsa Mosque for one week

Israel has barred the grand mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for one week.

The Jerusalem governorate posted on Facebook that Sheikh Muhammad Hussein was detained by Israeli forces after delivering his Friday sermon at Al-Aqsa Mosque. Later, the governorate confirmed that Hussein had been released, but was temporarily banned by Israeli authorities from entering Islam’s third-holiest site in occupied East Jerusalem for one week, with the possibility of the ban being renewed.

The Jerusalem governorate said: “The arrest was carried out in order to serve him [Hussein] with an order banning him from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for one week, with the possibility of renewal. This is not the first time such a measure has been taken against him”.

3,200 Palestinians displaced by Israeli demolitions in occupied West Bank in 2026: OCHA

Sixty-seven Palestinians have been displaced in the occupied West Bank as a result of demolitions carried out by Israeli forces in the first 10 days of July, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

OCHA says Israeli forces have destroyed at least 12 structures so far this month for lacking building permits, “which are nearly impossible for Palestinians to obtain”.

“More than 3,200 Palestinians – an average of 17 people per day” have been displaced this year in the occupied West Bank as a result of Israeli demolitions.

That’s “double the daily rate over the preceding three years”, according to the UN.
