Middle East nations condemn Israel’s incursions in southern Syria

Israel’s incursions and attacks on Syria’s southern provinces of Quneitra and Deraa on Sunday have drawn mounting concern across the region.

  • Turkey – The Turkish Foreign Ministry said Israel’s actions “violate the territorial integrity, unity and sovereignty of Syria”, adding that they “trample on the lives and property of the Syrian people and make life for civilians in the region increasingly difficult”.
  • Saudi Arabia – Riyadh expressed “its total rejection of the intimidation of innocent civilians by the Israeli occupation forces and their violations of international law and norms”.
  • Kuwait – The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry denounced the Israeli attacks, saying “the continuation of these practices represents an undermining of efforts aimed at preserving security and stability.”
  • Arab League – Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit warned that ongoing violations by Israeli forces risk igniting the entire region.
  • Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) – The attacks by Israeli forces constitute a “flagrant violation” and represent a “dangerous escalation” that would heighten “tensions and instability in the region”, Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi said in a statement.

Syria not ‘testing ground for foreign conspiracies’: President al-Sharaa

Syria’ President Ahmed al-Sharaa says the country “is neither a testing ground for foreign conspiracies nor a venue for carrying out the ambitions of others”, according to the Al Mayadeen news outlet.

He also condemned Israeli attacks as incursions continue in southern parts of the country.

On Monday, residents near the occupied Golan Heights were forced to flee their homes, as the Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned “the Israeli aggressions”, calling the attacks “a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

Al-Sharaa added that “we emphasize our commitment to its territorial integrity and stability”.
