Israeli forces arrest 12 Palestinians in West Bank as colonist attacks continue

Israeli forces have continued raids in the occupied West Bank overnight, arresting at least 10 people from the villages of Burin, Madama, Asira al-Qibliya, and Tal, south of Nablus, according to the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported.

It said Israeli forces also arrested two Palestinians from the towns of Far’un, south of Tulkarem, and Saida, north of Tulkarem, and stormed the town of Tuqu’, southeast of Bethlehem, and raided people’s homes.

Meanwhile, Israeli colonists attacked Palestinians after storming the Ras al-Ahmar area, southeast of Tubas, and also set fire to a vehicle in the village of Abu Njeim, south of Bethlehem.

Israeli forces arrest 20 Palestinians in occupied West Bank

Israeli forces have arrested at least 20 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank, most from the Nablus area.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club told Al Jazeera the detentions took place during overnight Israeli raids.

The arrests come during a sustained surge in Israeli military incursions across the besieged Palestinian territory.

There has also been a rise in colonist violence targeting Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, as lynch mobs attack people in their own homes or in public places.

Israeli army storms West Bank refugee camp after takeover threat

Israeli jeeps and tanks raiding the nearby Jalazone refugee camp.

This is part of the reality for Palestinians, not just in Ramallah but also in other parts of the occupied West Bank, as Israeli army raids continue to disrupt daily life.

The Israeli forces also raided the Palestine Medical Complex last night. People here have been telling us this wasn’t the first time as Israeli forces also raided the campus and fired tear gas into the emergency entrance last week.

This is a vital area as a lot of Palestinians come here to be treated for injuries sometimes sustained in Israeli colonist attacks. Colonists also set fire to a home in southern Bethlehem. Medical teams managed to evacuate the family.

Colonists and Israeli soldiers will stop at nothing to harm Palestinians with the not-so-secret ultimate goal of pushing Palestinians off their land.

Yesterday, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said he instructed the army to take over one refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. He did not name it, but this is part of the intimidation he wants Palestinians to feel.

Many Palestinians say because Israel got away with its genocide in Gaza, the occupied West Bank is the next target.

Israeli forces disrupt memorial for ‘No Other Land’ activist in Hebron

Israeli forces broke up a memorial service in the occupied West Bank honoring Awdah Hathaleen, an unarmed Palestinian activist shot dead one year ago by an Israeli colonist.

Tensions boiled over on Tuesday during the anniversary commemoration when Israeli soldiers dispersed attendees.

Hathaleen, 31, an English teacher and contributor to the award-winning documentary No Other Land, was fatally shot on July 28, 2025, while filming an illegal outpost expansion on his village’s land in Umm al-Khair. Video footage captured Israeli colonist Yinon Levi firing into a crowd of protesting residents.

Israeli authorities briefly arrested Levi before releasing him without charge, citing self-defense, a decision heavily criticized by international human rights groups as reflecting a pattern of impunity.

Rights organisations report more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October 2023, in escalating colonist violence and military raids.

Fuel shortage in occupied West Bank compounds growing crisis

Fuel shortages are acute and only getting worse in the occupied West Bank. We’re seeing many gas stations closing their doors.

This issue is important to Palestinians. At checkpoints Israeli forces make Palestinians stop – sometimes for hours at the same time – and that causes a lot of traffic and that’s why people need fuel.

People also need it because they are having to take longer detours amid continued travel restrictions, not just here in Ramallah but all across the occupied West Bank.

So in addition to the attacks against Palestinians, they’re having to deal with not being able to travel, not being able to go from one place to another, because of this fuel shortage.

This is already a difficult situation for Palestinians who have lived under very tough economic conditions for years now. The public employees have not been able to get their full salaries and that has affected the economy as a whole.

This is something that is worrying Palestinians and making them believe that it’s all part of one large scheme to get them to leave their land.

UN says attacks, colony expansion at an ‘all-time high’

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights says attacks by Israeli colonists and the expansion of colonies and outposts in the occupied West Bank are hitting an “all-time high”.

“We are alarmed by the Israeli government’s announcement to further increase the number of colonies and outposts, and open calls by Israeli leaders for revenge and collective punishment against Palestinian communities, accompanied by threats to turn the West Bank into another Gaza,” office spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said in a statement.

Shamdasani called on the international community to “act urgently and in unison to halt the continuing killing and dispossession of the Palestinian people, and to bring an end to the Israeli occupation”.

Palestinians unsafe even in their homes in the occupied West Bank

The situation in the occupied West Bank is going from bad to worse as Israeli attacks intensify, reports a local journalist.

“[They] are openly calling for expelling more Palestinians, for minimizing the areas where Palestinians can move and maximizing the amount of colonists in the occupied West Bank,” Sarah Abu Alrob reported.

“So what is happening on the ground is that Israel is intensifying its attacks, intensifying its home demolitions, intensifying its land seizure.”

Palestinians living in the occupied territory fear for their lives. “Not just driving outside their houses, even in their houses they’re not feeling safe,” said the reporter based in Nablus.

More than 60,000 children in Gaza have lost parents since October 2023

More than 60,000 children in the Gaza Strip have lost at least one parent since Israel’s genocidal war began in October 2023, Gaza’s Health Ministry says in a report.

At least 60,737 children lost at least one parent – 52,095 lost their father, 5,929 lost their mother and 2,713 lost both parents.

It also said 2,276 families, comprising 8,858 people, had been “totally wiped out from the civil registry”.

The ministry said more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023. Despite an October “ceasefire”, Israel continues to launch deadly attacks across Gaza killing more than 1,100 people since the truce was brokered.

Italy, Saudi Arabia reaffirm support for Gaza ‘ceasefire’

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud has held talks with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the Global Alliance Meeting on the Two-State Solution in Rome.

“The two ministers reaffirmed the need to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza, disarm the sector, ensure unhindered access for humanitarian aid to civilians, and initiate early recovery activities, as well as support the reform efforts undertaken by the Palestinian Authority,” a joint statement published by the Saudi Foreign Ministry read.

Despite the start of the so-called “ceasefire” in October 2025, near-daily Israeli violations have killed at least 1,207 people and wounded 3,914, according to the Health Ministry in Gaza.

The statement also said the ministers “condemned the escalation of colonist violence in the West Bank, stressing the urgent need to protect the Palestinian population. The two ministers reiterated their opposition to any form of annexation – whether partial, total, or de facto – of the West Bank, and to the forced displacement of Palestinians”.

In regard to the Strait of Hormuz, the ministers stressed the waterway’s importance and opposed any “unilateral actions that would restrict maritime transit”.

Two Palestinians killed, 29 wounded in Gaza over past 24 hours

Two Palestinians have been killed and 29 others injured in Gaza over the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry says.

One of the fatalities was a new death, while the other succumbed to earlier wounds. Additional victims remain trapped under debris or lie dead on roads with Palestinian Civil Defense crews unable to reach them, the ministry said in a statement.

Since the “ceasefire”, the Health Ministry has recorded 1,209 deaths and 3,943 injuries, alongside 803 bodies retrieved from the rubble.

The cumulative toll since the outbreak of Israel’s genocidal war in October 2023 now stands at 73,335 killed and 174,052 wounded, it said.

Israeli court clears way to demolish Palestinian school and homes

An Israeli military court rejected four petitions seeking to halt the demolition of a school and three homes in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank.

The court dismissed a petition against a military order to demolish a secondary girls school, which has been under threat of demolition since 2016.

Three separate petitions seeking to stop the destruction of homes belonging to Palestinian residents in Masafer Yatta were also rejected.

The ruling clears the way for Israeli forces to carry out the demolitions potentially at any time, sources say.

Canada says expansion of Israeli West Bank colonies ‘must stop’

Canada has condemned Israeli colonists’ escalating violence in the West Bank, demanding that the proliferation of illegal outposts “must stop”.

“These colonies are illegal under international law and undermine prospects for peace, security and stability,” the foreign ministry said on X.

The United Nations human rights office says attacks by Israeli colonists and the expansion of illegal colonies are hitting an “all-time high”.

Israeli colonist faced no threat when Awdah Hathaleen was shot dead, Al-Haq finds

An Israeli colonist was engaged in an attack on a Palestinian community when he fired in the direction of Awdah Hathaleen, a Palestinian local, and killed him.

Human rights monitoring group Al-Haq reviewed more than 60 videos and photographs, cross-referenced legal testimony, and conducted geospatial and 3D analyses in an investigation that concluded that the colonist was under no threat when he fired.

Israeli air strikes kill 2 Palestinians in Gaza

Separate Israeli air strikes have killed two people in Gaza, our correspondent on the ground is reporting.

At least one person was killed, and others wounded – including children – following an Israeli drone attack on a group of civilians in Gaza City.

Another strike hit western Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, killing one person and injuring another.

Since the so-called “ceasefire”, Gaza’s Health Ministry has recorded more than 1,200 deaths and 3,943 injuries, as well as 803 bodies retrieved from the rubble.

The Palestinian economy has shrunk by about 20 percent since 2023

“The Israelis have always made it clear that they have the capacity to collapse the Palestinian economy, to collapse Palestinian livelihoods”, Ubai Aboudi, an economic researcher from the occupied West Bank, says.

“Over 1,100 checkpoints, roadblocks, gates all over the West Bank, when we are seeing those mass closures with zero respect for the lives or livelihoods of Palestinians, you understand that this is by design,” he said.

“One quarter of the Palestinian workforce in the West Bank used to work in the Israeli economy; now they have been banned,” he said.

“The other one quarter are PA employees that have also been getting half salaries and, in some months, no salaries at all, because Israel has withheld the clearance revenue,” he explained.

“So when you couple that with the impact on the private sector … where customers do not have the money to buy from small shops … then you understand this collapse,” he stated.

Violent acts by Israeli settlers ‘a disgrace’

Yariv Oppenheimer, former general director of Peace Now and a member of the Democratic Party in Israel, about the situation in the occupied West Bank, including the growing number of Israeli colonist attacks:

Colonist attacks are not a “spontaneous act of some individuals … these are groups that are being sponsored by the Israeli government,” he said.

“The colonists that are using violence and sometimes even kill Palestinians, they know that no one is going to look for them, there will not be any enforcement of the law,” said Oppenheimer.

“This is the flagship project of the government in the West Bank to move Palestinians away from Area C, even from Areas A and B, and to give the land to the colonists to build farms, outposts, and settlements”, he continued.

Calling the policy “totally unacceptable”, Oppenheimer described Israel’s government as the most right-wing “ever”.

“It’s a disgrace for any Israeli that colonists can do whatever they like in the West Bank, including to attack in a vicious way Palestinians, and there is no accountability, nothing”, he said.

Israeli air strikes target residential street in Gaza City

Two Israeli air strikes have hit a residential block in the Shati refugee camp, located in the northwestern part of Gaza City, sending a powerful shockwave through the surrounding area.

The Israeli military first issued a forced evacuation notice for the residential block, followed by two strikes.

The first missile failed to detonate, but the second missile did detonate, generating a massive explosion that rocked the area.

Israeli military extends offensive on Jenin, Tulkarem, Nur Shams until end of September

The military has ordered closures of the Jenin, Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps in the occupied West Bank until September 30, as part of its ongoing military offensive on the three camps, according to Wafa.

The previous military orders had been due to expire on July 31, the news outlet reported.

The new military orders prohibit anyone from entering, remaining in or leaving the designated areas within the camps without a special permit issued by the Israeli military, it stated.

The military offensive on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp has been ongoing since January 2025.

Turkish FM meets with head of Hamas’s political bureau

Hakan Fidan has met with Hamas’s newly elected Khalil al-Hayya, Anadolu reports, citing Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.

The sources said Fidan congratulated al-Hayya on his appointment as the chair of the group’s political bureau during the meeting, and al-Hayya briefed Fidan on the situation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, as well as the attacks on holy sites in Jerusalem.

According to Anadolu’s report, Ankara said it would continue making every effort to increase the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and Fidan reiterated that Turkiye will continue supporting the peace process and expressed appreciation for the role Hamas has played in those efforts.

Israeli forces ‘severely’ beat Palestinians at occupied West Bank checkpoint

Wafa news agency reports that two Palestinian men were beaten by Israeli soldiers at the Atara checkpoint, located at the northern entrance of the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

The men, who were identified by Wafa as being from the village of Beit Rima, were assaulted and detained by Israeli forces before being released and transported to Istishari Hospital for treatment.
