Palestinian President Abbas urges international action to stop Israeli colonist attacks

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called on world leaders to act urgently to stop the increasing attacks by Israeli forces and colonists in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian presidency said in a statement.

Abbas sent letters to several leaders from Arab and European countries, as well as the EU, the secretary-general of the League of Arab States, the president of the UN Security Council, and the State of Palestine’s Mission to the United Nations.

In his letters, according to the statement, Abbas said the occupied Palestinian territory is witnessing a “dangerous escalation” and that “the situation has gone beyond isolated incidents of violence”. He described it as “a systematic Israeli policy aimed at creating new realities on the ground through settlement expansion, escalating colonist violence, and undermining and weakening the Palestinian National Authority”.

Abbas also affirmed his continuing belief in a “comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution” and called on international actors to “implement relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which affirms the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory, and to provide international protection for the Palestinian people”.

Israeli forces raid Tal, arrest father of killed Palestinians

Israeli forces have raided the village of Tal and arrested the father of two men killed in a shooting incident involving Israeli colonists, an Al Jazeera correspondent on the ground reports.

On Friday, Israeli forces shot dead Ibrahim and Jawad Ramadan, along with two of their cousins, when a colonist incursion on their land in the village of Tal turned deadly. Two Israelis were also killed during the confrontation.

The Israeli government has since instructed the military to conduct sweeping operations across the West Bank, raiding dozens of towns and arresting dozens of Palestinians.

Senator Sanders says US ‘complicit in everything that is happening in Gaza’

US Senator Bernie Sanders has condemned the continuing “suffering of the Palestinian people” despite a ceasefire, in a statement posted on X.

“The shameful fact is that the United States is complicit in everything that is happening in Gaza”, Sanders wrote. “We have funneled tens of billions of dollars in military aid to an Israeli government that has consistently violated international law and whose leader is a war criminal.”

Sanders highlighted that Israeli military actions in Gaza have continued despite a ceasefire being in place, pointing out that “Israel now controls an estimated 70% of Gaza, well beyond what they agreed to, and has built dozens of military outposts inside Gaza since the ‘ceasefire’ began”.

The Vermont senator said that “the good news is that the American people are catching on. More and more Americans — Democrats, Republicans and independents — are demanding that we stop all military aid to Israel and use our considerable leverage to end the suffering of the Palestinian people”.

“Congress must listen to the American people,” Sanders added. “NO MORE US MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL”.

Israeli colonists, backed by the military, have been on a rampage in the occupied West Bank, torching at least two mosques and detaining dozens of Palestinians days after killing four of them.

Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have been on edge for the last two days after Israeli forces shot dead four Palestinians in the town of Tal, near Nablus, during a colonist incursion on their land.

Two Israelis were also killed in the confrontation.

More than 120 Palestinians arrested by Israeli forces in two days

Israeli forces have detained more than 120 Palestinians across the occupied West Bank over the past two days, the Palestinian Center for Prisoners Advocacy (Samidoun) reports.

The arrests come as part of Israel’s sweeping campaign to exact revenge after an Israeli colonist assault on a Palestinian family’s land resulted in four Palestinian and two Israeli deaths.

Arrests were concentrated in Nablus, Tulkarem and Hebron, where troops raided homes, damaged property and beat detainees during field interrogations.

Some raids were carried out alongside armed Israeli colonist under military protection.

Samidoun describes the campaign as part of a policy of “collective punishment and retaliation against the Palestinian people”.

It has called on the UN, the Red Cross and rights organizations to provide urgent protection for Palestinians in the West Bank.

Israeli crackdown in occupied West Bank intensifies, colonists cause mayhem

The Israeli military has launched an aggressive crackdown in the occupied West Bank, storming several towns and villages and detaining hundreds of Palestinians, amid escalating attacks by Israeli colonists, in a furious reaction to a shootout in a village near Nablus in which four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers were killed.

The “wide-scale military operation” across the West Bank ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the deaths of the soldiers intensified on Sunday, and colonists became bolder and more violent, marauding through villages, scrawling graffiti on buildings and attacking Palestinians.

Colonists tried to set two mosques ablaze. At one of those, the newly built Al-Rahma Mosque in the town of Qusra southeast of Nablus, colonist spray-painted slogans like “Jewish revenge” on the walls, said Abdel Azim Wadi, ⁠head of the village council in Qusra. A fire consumed a mosque.

Israeli army carries out new raids in occupied West Bank

The military has carried out demolition operations in the town of Nilin, west of Ramallah, according to sources.

Israeli troops also carried out a raid in the Jabal Salman area in Beita, south of Nablus.

The Israeli military launched an aggressive crackdown in the occupied West Bank last week, amid escalating attacks by Jewish colonists, in a furious reaction to a shootout near Nablus in which four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers were killed.

UAE slams Israeli colonist aggression in occupied West Bank

The UAE has “strongly condemned” recent attacks carried out by Israeli colonists on villages in the occupied West Bank.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry noted that the latest incident was an arson attack on a mosque in Tulkarem, calling such acts “provocative and inciting” against Muslims, which constitute “extremism”.

It added that the Israeli government bears full responsibility for these incidents.

The statement further called on the government to hold perpetrators accountable, emphasizing that any failure to do so would be construed as implicit consent, thereby deepening the cycle of hatred, racism and instability.

The UAE was the first Arab country to sign the Abraham Accords in December 2020, which was initially meant to isolate the Palestinians from the Arab world.

Netanyahu departs for Washington despite arrest warrant

The State of Israel’s Arabic-language account on X says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has departed for Washington, DC, where he is due to meet US President Donald Trump.

According to the post, the visit is taking place at Trump’s invitation, with the two leaders expected to discuss “issues of concern to both countries”.

The visit comes as Netanyahu remains the subject of an International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant. The ICC issued warrants in November 2024 for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged crimes against humanity committed amid Israel’s war on Gaza.

The upcoming White House visit marks the seventh time Netanyahu has met with President Donald Trump since Trump returned to office in January 2025, more than any other world leader.

Israel’s Netanyahu departs for Washington for talks with Trump

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has departed for the United States for discussions with US President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu is visiting Washington at Trump’s invitation and will discuss “issues of mutual interest to Israel and the US”, according to an Israeli statement.

The Israeli prime minister said on Sunday he plans to attend the UN General Assembly despite calls for his arrest by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Mamdani last week called Netanyahu a “war criminal” and urged the US government to enforce an International Criminal Court arrest warrant against him if he enters the country.

Trump, however, vowed Netanyahu “will not be arrested” while visiting the United States.

The ICC issued arrest warrants in November 2024 for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over allegations of war crimes.

Netanyahu accuses Mamdani of ‘fomenting hate’

Happening this morning in the occupied West Bank 

According to the Palestinian WAFA news agency, Israeli occupation forces continued a campaign of raids, assaults, and detentions throughout the occupied West Bank this morning.

Local sources told the agency that eight Palestinians were arrested across five locations in Nablus.

In the Jenin area, forces demolished a three-story house. Sources told WAFA that “occupation forces stormed the Arraba Station area with three military bulldozers, backed by large numbers of infantry troops and military vehicles.” Another home was demolished west of Ramallah; WAFA reports that both homeowners had initiated legal action after receiving initial demolition notices.

In Qalqilya, Israeli troops entered from the eastern entrance, raiding the Kafr Saba and Al-Naqar neighborhoods. Four citizens were detained, including a man whose home was searched.

In Hebron, forces conducted raids across several towns, searching homes and vehicles, mistreating local residents, and restricting movement by setting up military checkpoints and blocking key roads.

Additionally, home raids were reported in towns near Bethlehem, though no arrests were made there.

Gaza’s hospitals operating ‘at maximum capacity’

The Palestinian health ministry says the territory’s healthcare system is operating “at maximum capacity” and “surpassing its limits” as hospitals struggle to cope with demand while Israel continues to block aid entering the enclave.

In a report covering the first six months of the year, the ministry said emergency departments treated 997,844 patients.

It said hospitals carried out 57,112 surgeries and admitted 111,378 patients, while dialysis centres provided 47,629 sessions for 3,912 kidney failure patients.

The ministry also reported 45,000 psychiatric clinic visits, and the distribution of 32,186 units of blood to support surgeries, emergency treatment and severe bleeding cases.

The ministry said the figures demonstrate an “urgent need for support with medical supplies and medicines” to “guarantee the continuity of these vital services”.

Three fishermen wounded in Israeli drone attack near Gaza City port

An Israeli drone has targeted Palestinian fishermen working near Gaza City port, injuring at least three, our colleagues on the ground report, citing the Gaza Fishermen’s Committees Union.

The union said the three fishermen were wounded while fishing off the coast near the port. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

Israeli colonists ‘expand, displace and terrorize Palestinians’

Some Israeli media are warning of an “explosion” in the occupied West Bank. The reason is the continued impunity of colonists attacking Palestinians.

The Israeli army, instead of stopping these colonists, is providing a layer of protection and restricting movement, caging Palestinians in their villages while Israeli colonists continue to wreak havoc wherever they want.

There is a situation which is very volatile, that changes by the minute. Palestinians feel they’re defenseless without any protection whatsoever.

Israeli colonists continue to position themselves within villages, within small towns. They usually choose remote locations and start attacking Palestinians. They usually set up these small caravans, then expand, and then they get retroactively recognized by the Israeli government as Israeli settlements.

This is a system designed to dispossess Palestinians of their land while allowing colonists to expand, displace and terrorize Palestinians.

Israeli army kills 2 Palestinians in Gaza as deadly strikes continue

At least two Palestinians have been killed after Israeli forces opened fire outside aid distribution areas south of Khan Younis, medical sources say.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.

The latest Israeli attack comes despite a “ceasefire” agreement in effect in the Gaza Strip since October 2025. The army continues to control about 70 percent of the war-devastated Palestinian territory.

Israeli raids, demolitions continue across occupied West Bank

Military incursions and settler attacks continue across the occupied West Bank during the ongoing Israeli crackdown involving mass detentions and home demolitions.

In Qalandia refugee camp, north of occupied East Jerusalem, troops stormed a technical college firing tear gas and detaining teachers and other staff, Wafa news agency quoted authorities as saying.

The army demolished a Palestinian home in the Silwan neighborhood. In al-Mughayyir, east of Ramallah, Israeli colonists reportedly grazed livestock on Palestinian-owned farmland, damaging crops and trees.

The latest incidents follow a series of raids and demolitions earlier today across the occupied West Bank.

Sarah Abu Alrob, a journalist based in Ramallah, says an Israeli military incursion launched on Friday has severely disrupted daily life across the occupied West Bank.

“[It] has affected every aspect of life in the West Bank. The north and the south of the West Bank are now separated by about 1,000 checkpoints, barriers and iron gates. Palestinians are not able to move from one town to another,” she said.

Abu Alrob said the Israeli restrictions have had devastating humanitarian consequences.

“A six-month pregnant Palestinian woman lost her fetus after she was detained in an ambulance while bleeding at a military checkpoint, where the Israeli military did not let her pass to the hospital,” she said.

“Under international law the Israeli military should be protecting Palestinians in these areas. What’s happening is quite the opposite.”

Israeli forces attack Gaza civilians outside UN school shelter

An attack took place in Deir el-Balah, the central part of the Gaza Strip, targeting a group of civilians. It happened in front of an UNRWA school where Palestinians are sheltering.

Injured people were taken to hospital. One of them was a person in a wheelchair whose legs had already been amputated because of a previous Israeli air strike.

Even though there is a “ceasefire” in place, Israeli forces continue to attack different areas of the besieged Gaza Strip.

What is really frightening for Palestinians is that strikes are carried out without any prior warning and mostly target densely populated areas.

Israeli army raids UNRWA facility in East Jerusalem, detains staff

Israeli forces raided the UN agency for Palestinian refugees’ training centre in the Qalandiya refugee camp, north of occupied East Jerusalem.

UN staff at the site were detained, local authorities said. In a statement, the Jerusalem governorate said Israeli troops stormed the facility, used tear gas and held staff in one of its halls.

The Israeli army raided the Qalandiya camp overnight with stun grenades and tear gas, causing a fire, it said.

The raid comes weeks after the governorate warned of an Israeli plan to demolish UNRWA’s training centre in Qalandiya.

Israeli authorities carried out 341 demolitions in the first half of this year, destroying 740 structures and affecting 923 Palestinians, according to the Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission.

Two young men from Atara, on the outskirts of Ramallah, told us they were stopped by Israeli forces on their way home. Before being released, they were beaten and forced to clean the bathroom as well as the facility serving the Israeli soldiers.

UN’s Turk says killing of UN staff is ‘unfathomable’

UN Rights Commissioner Volker Turk says that after working for the United Nations for 35 years, he “never imagined that we’d end up in a situation where in Gaza, in Yemen, in Lebanon, our colleagues killed not only once or twice, but frankly in a way that is totally unfathomable”.

“We had, as you know, many hundreds of colleagues killed in Gaza,” he said, and “a lot of UNIFIL personnel killed” in southern Lebanon, as well as 74 colleagues detained in Yemen.

Turk said that his staff who have been monitoring the situation are exhausted and traumatized.

He called for protection for UN staff and all those who work in humanitarian and human rights positions, “because we are doing it impartially” in order to serve people all around the world.

“I do think that the majority of people around the world care about not only our work, but also about the truth coming out, and that’s what we are counting on,” he said, adding, “we need to point out that international law that nobody is above international law and there are no exceptions to it.”

The number of colonies between Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley has been steadily increasing, as colonists have been “escalating” attacks on these areas, often “under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces,” said Wafa.

3 killed and more than 15 wounded by Israeli fire across Gaza

Three Palestinians have been killed and more than 15 wounded by Israeli fire in several areas of the Gaza Strip since this morning, hospital sources say.

An Israeli drone has killed one person and wounded several others near Wadi al-Salqa, south of Deir al-Balah.

Another person was killed, and several others were injured, in an Israeli drone strike in Jabalia al-Balad in northern Gaza.

Mohammad Khalil Mohammad Salim, a 38-year-old from Khan Younis, also died from wounds he sustained in an Israeli drone strike near al-Qarara, south of Deir al-Balah, earlier today.

Arab League denounces Israeli raid on UNRWA facility

The Arab League has condemned “the storming” of the Qalandiya Training Centre in occupied East Jerusalem by Israeli forces, saying it was a “flagrant violation” of UN facilities and their privileges and immunities.

The centre, run by UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, was raided for a second time in less than a month, the Arab League said in a statement.

Assistant Secretary-General Faed Mustafa said the latest attack was “part of a systematic policy aimed at undermining the agency’s work and depriving Palestinian refugees of their right to education and fundamental services”.

He added that the raid “breaches Israel’s obligations, as the de facto occupying power, under international law and the Fourth Geneva Convention”, noting that the International Court of Justice asserted in 2025 Israel’s obligation to facilitate UNRWA operations and refrain from taking any measures that could undermine or hamper its mandate.

Sixty Palestinian detainees released by Israel into Gaza

Israel has released 60 detainees to Gaza in an operation facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The detainees were released through the Karem Abu Salem crossing to Khan Younis, where they were transferred to the Nasser Medical Complex, the ICRC said.

The Israeli military said those released were not considered “terrorists”.

The Red Cross noted that it had facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 detainees in this manner since 2023. It said it is unable to access those still held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, 4,900 Palestinians were in Israeli prisons as of April with more than 1,000 held in administrative detention, meaning they are being held indefinitely without charge or trial.

US extends restrictions on West Bank travel for government personnel

The US State Department has extended its restrictions on US government personnel and their families travelling to the occupied West Bank.

The US embassy in Jerusalem said the temporary restriction was “due to heightened security concerns and increased volatility in the West Bank”.

The restriction was first issued on Sunday and will now be carried over until the end of Wednesday unless further extended or rescinded, the embassy said.

According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Israeli forces have continued a campaign of raids and assaults throughout the occupied West Bank this evening.

Several Palestinians were injured in an attack by Israeli colonists and forces on the al-Araqib Bedouin gathering north of Jerusalem, according to the Jerusalem governorate. The Red Crescent said Israeli forces prevented its crews from transporting the injured to receive treatment.

A medical source said an elderly Palestinian was injured in a colonist attack on the outskirts of Beit Dajan village in Nablus governorate.

Israeli forces raided the village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, an Al Jazeera correspondent said, adding that both Israeli soldiers and colonists attacked a gathering of Arabs from al-Arara, east of Jaba and north of Jerusalem.

Colonists attacked the villages of Burqa, east of Ramallah, and Asira al-Qibliya, south of Nablus, Wafa reported, adding that Israeli forces joined the colonists in the attack on Asira al-Qibliya, which resulted in no reported injuries or arrests.

Former senior Israeli defense ministry official says country’s multi-front war has been a ‘resounding failure’

Dror Shalom, a former head of the Israeli Defense Ministry’s Political-Military Bureau, says Israel’s multi-front war has been “a resounding failure” as Israel failed to achieve its objectives.

“We didn’t bring a decisive result on all the fronts,” Shalom said during an interview at a conference organized by Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies.

“Hamas is still on its feet; Hezbollah is far from disarming; Iran – we moved back the nuclear program a bit, but it still exists; and Israel’s [international] status is at a record low and relations with the United States are also not at their best.”

Shalom said that the next government should focus on creating an alternative to Hamas in Gaza and improving diplomatic relations with Syria and Lebanon.

He added that Israel was naive to think that a change in government in Iran could be achieved through air strikes.

Regarding Gaza, Shalom said that “one of the only achievements is that we returned the hostages,” adding the caveat that anti-government protests helped push the US to make this a priority.

The ex-Brigadier General said that once a state commission of inquiry has been established to probe the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel, he would be “the first” to testify.

Hundreds of former Israeli security officials urge Trump to press Netanyahu on West Bank violence

About 600 retired Israeli army, intelligence and police officials have signed a letter calling for Trump to press Netanyahu on settler violence in the occupied West Bank during the Israeli prime minister’s visit to Washington, DC.

The letter warns that the escalating violence threatens both Israel’s security and US interests in the region.

The signed letter was sent to Trump ahead of Netanyahu’s meeting with the US president at the White House on Tuesday. It was signed off by former Israeli Deputy Chief of Staff Matan Vilnai.

Data from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) shows that between January 1, 2025, and June 31, 2026, there were 3,033 Israeli settler attacks.

Since Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza began in October 2023, Israeli settler violence in the occupied West Bank has steadily risen.

UN chief slams Israel’s expansion of illegal settlements in occupied West Bank

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned plans to accelerate the development of Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Guterres said in a statement released on Monday that Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territory have “no legal validity” and constitute a “flagrant violation” of international law. His criticism comes amid escalating violence in the West Bank and Israeli plans to boost the legalization of outposts and establishment of new ones.

Guterres said the settlements remain a major obstacle to a two-state solution and to a “just, lasting and comprehensive peace” between Israelis and Palestinians.

The secretary-general’s statement builds on repeated UN warnings over Israeli settlement policy in recent months, joining calls by the UN and its partner agencies for civilian protection and accountability for perpetrators under international humanitarian and human rights law.

Israeli army raids, settler attacks continue across occupied West Bank

Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians travelling in vehicles across the occupied West Bank late on Monday, according to the Wafa news agency.

Wafa reported settler attacks near occupied East Jerusalem and close to Ramallah and said that Israeli forces had shot and injured a Palestinian after raiding the al-Mukhtar roundabout, south of Hebron.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society transported the injured man to hospital for treatment, the agency said.

Elsewhere, Israeli forces detained a Palestinian on the road between Nablus and Ramallah. They also stormed the town of Tuqu, southeast of Bethlehem, and the Doha area, west of Bethlehem.
