The Palestinian Wafa news agency is reporting that Israeli colonists stormed the village of Abu Njeim, southeast of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, and opened fire on Palestinian vehicles.

No injuries were reported, but colonists closed a street and vandalised a vehicle, Wafa added.

As we’ve been reporting, several people were killed and others injured as escalating Israeli colonist violence spiked in the occupied West Bank on Friday.

Israeli forces raid town east of Nablus

Israeli occupation forces have raided the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, and stormed several homes, according to an Al Jazeera correspondent on the ground.

Acute hunger in Gaza set to rise as UN warns of aid shortfalls

The UN World Food Program (WFP) is warning of deep cuts to its aid to Gaza, where it supports the vast majority of the population, without additional funding.

“Without sufficient funding, we will be forced to scale back assistance for people who depend on it for survival,” Ross Smith, the program’s director of emergency preparedness and response, told reporters on Friday, according to the Reuters news agency.

Without the additional funds, Smith added, the WFP will have to make “very significant cuts” by October, the Anadolu news agency reported.

A recent food security survey found that the number of people facing acute hunger in Gaza is expected to rise from 1.2 million in June to 1.4 million, or 67 percent of the population, by December, due to declining assistance.

HRW warns that colonist violence surge threatens mass atrocities

Human Rights Watch has said that international action is needed to end the Israeli government’s role in escalating reprisals across the occupied West Bank, following deadly colonist attacks on the village of Tal near Nablus on Friday.

“The Israeli government didn’t prevent the colonist attacks on Tal village, so now it needs to stop colonist reprisals and escalating military action that will make a bad situation worse,” Sarah Sanbar, HRW Israel and Palestine researcher, said in a statement.

“Years of lawlessness and impunity for attacks has turned the West Bank into a powder keg waiting to explode, and decisive action is urgently needed,” Sanbar added.

“The colonist violence against Tal is a reminder that if the violence is not stopped and those responsible are not held to account, escalation and further atrocities are inevitable,” Sanbar said.

“Governments need to act urgently so that the Israeli government does not continue to act as if it has a green light to commit further atrocities.”

UNESCO lists West Bank site over Israel’s objections

The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has inscribed a major archaeological site in the West Bank on the World Heritage list , over objections from Israel, reports The Associated Press news agency.

The decision, at a UNESCO meeting in South Korea on Friday, came days after Israel’s Foreign Ministry urged the committee to reject the bids, the news agency reported.

Undeterred, the committee decided to place the West Bank town on both the World Heritage List and the List of World Heritage in Danger after reviewing the nominations on an emergency basis, citing ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.

About the Sebastia site, near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, UNESCO said it preserves archaeological records of successive occupations from different civilizations dating back at least to the ninth century BCE.

Israeli forces raid multiple West Bank towns overnight amid rising violence

A new wave of Israeli military raids and colonist violence sweeps across several areas in the occupied West Bank overnight, leaving a Palestinian teenager and an elderly man injured by gunfire in Bethlehem and Nablus, Al Jazeera correspondents on the ground report.

Israeli forces raided the Aqabat Jabr camp south of Jericho, the city of Qalqilya, the village of Kobar in the Ramallah district, and the town of Kafr Aqab north of Jerusalem.

Troops also stormed the town of Yabad alongside the villages of Zababdeh and Burqin in the Jenin governorate, while another raid targeted the village of Faroun south of Tulkarem.

In Nablus, military units entered the villages of Tal and Qaryut as well as the town of Beit Furik, launching a widespread detention campaign in Tal and searching multiple homes in Beit Furik.

During these incursions, soldiers fired tear gas canisters at Palestinian residences in Qaryut, while colonists attacked homes in the village of Urif, south of Nablus.

Israel boosted spending on public diplomacy, Quincy Institute reports

The Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft is reporting that Israel has sharply increased its spending on public diplomacy efforts in recent years.

According to Quincy, Israel budgeted $750m for public diplomacy efforts in 2026, almost four times as much as it spent in 2025, at $190m.

This includes more than $100m spent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) in the United States since 2023, Quincy added.

There were also 17 new firms that “registered under FARA to work for Israeli interests in 2024 and 2025”, according to the Quincy report.

FARA stands for the Foreign Agents Registration Act, a 1938* U.S. law requiring individuals and groups who do political, advocacy, or public relations work for foreign governments, parties, or principals to register with the government.

AIPAC is a foreign agent as it is explicitly operating in the Israeli interest. Other entities like Canary Mission, Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA), Honest Reporting.

Israeli forces raid 70 homes, arrest dozens in extensive Nablus-area operation

Israeli forces have raided some 70 homes and arrested around 50 Palestinians in the town of Tal, southwest of Nablus, our colleagues on the ground report.

The governor of Nablus, Ghassan Daghlas, told Al Jazeera that six Palestinians had been killed and dozens more wounded or detained in the past two days. He described the events as “real aggression” and attributed the escalation to what he called “a prolonged international silence” that he said had encouraged attacks against Palestinians.

The operation in Tell is among the most extensive in the area in recent months, amid heightened tensions across the West Bank.

Israeli forces storm, raid Tubas in occupied West Bank

Israeli forces continued to storm areas in the occupied West Bank this morning, including the city of Tubas and the al-Far’a camp to its south, Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.

At dawn, soldiers stormed the city with a large number of military vehicles and infantry forces spread out in several of its neighborhoods, and launched a wide raid on the homes of residents.

Forces withdrew from the city after nearly three hours, and no arrests were reported.

After withdrawing from Tubas, those forces stormed the al-Far’a camp and launched a large-scale raid on citizens’ homes, according to the Wafa report.

EU ‘deeply concerned’ by escalating violence in occupied West Bank

The European Union says it is “deeply concerned” by the escalation of violence in the occupied West Bank, urging all parties to avoid inflammatory rhetoric and help de-escalate tensions.

In a statement, the EU expressed its “deepest condolences” to the families of those killed and said the latest violence was “a reminder of the fragility of the situation on the ground”.

The statement comes amid a new wave of Israeli military raids and colonist attacks across several areas of the occupied West Bank overnight.

If the EU really was concerned, it would have looked into the international legal status of Israeli colonist when they take actively taking part in the belligerent occupation by the Israeli armed belligerent.

‘Not just colonist violence, it’s state-sponsored’: West Bank attacks grow, says activist

Ubai Al Aboudi, a human rights activist in Ramallah, says colonist attacks on Palestinian villages are systematic and carried out with complete impunity, describing them as “not isolated incidents” but something “happening all across the West Bank”.

Al Aboudi says that the violence is not merely carried out by individuals, but represents “state-sponsored colonist violence”.

He pointed to an attack on the village of Tal on Friday, noting that it had also been targeted a week earlier on July 18.

“So-called hikers, as the Israeli officials called them, came into the village, burned a family house with the family still inside it, and it was a miracle that the residents of Tal were able to get that family out of the house before they were burned alive,” Al Aboudi said.

He described a recurring pattern in which Palestinians face violence regardless of how they react.

“If the Palestinians try to defend themselves, then the Israeli army comes and shoots the Palestinians, declares a curfew, and starts arresting and punishing Palestinians,” he said.

Al Aboudi noted that out of approximately 1,200 cases since October 2023 in which colonists and Israeli forces had killed Palestinians, many of them children, none had resulted in the prosecution of a colonist or an Israeli official.

“This is happening with complete impunity,” he added.

Happened in the occupied West Bank

Israeli forces carried out overnight raids across multiple areas of the occupied West Bank, while colonist attacks were also reported, according to our colleagues on the ground.

• Israeli troops raided Aqabat Jabr refugee camp, south of Jericho.
• Forces entered the city of Qalqilya. A military raid targeted the village of Kobar in the Ramallah governorate.
• Israeli soldiers entered the town of Kafr Aqab, north of Jerusalem. Troops stormed the town of Yabad and the villages of Zababdeh and Burqin in the Jenin governorate.

Turkey condemns escalating colonist violence in West Bank

Turkey has condemned what it described as escalating “illegal colonist terrorism” in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement, the Turkish foreign ministry said four Palestinians were killed on Friday by “terrorist colonists” whom it accused of acting with encouragement from the Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It called the killings a consequence of what it termed “Israel’s ongoing genocide policy”.

The ministry reiterated its call for the international community to prevent impunity for colonist-related crimes and for those responsible to be held accountable.

Israeli incursions ongoing with 26 Palestinians arrested in West Bank

Israeli forces continue to conduct raids in the occupied West Bank and have arrested 13 more people from the Ramallah and el-Bireh governorate.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that those arrested were from the town of Abwein, quoting local sources.

Meanwhile, Israeli soldiers have arrested five Palestinians in Tulkarem after the seizure of two residential buildings in the Shuweika suburb, north of the city. Eight other Palestinians were detained in Hebron governorate at dawn.

Fear, tension, anger across the occupied West Bank

There is a lot of tension and fear right now across the occupied West Bank as Israeli colonists continue to attack Palestinian villages and towns in the Nablus area.

At the military gate installed by the Israeli army at the northern edge of Ramallah, there are very few cars braving the roads because they’ve been overtaken by Israeli colonists who are throwing stones, stopping the cars and attacking communities.

Overnight, 80 Palestinians in Tal were detained by Israeli forces who converted two homes in that town into interrogation centers.

The families of the four people killed in that incident yesterday were only allowed to bury their loved ones past midnight, with very limited attendance from the village.

There is a lot of apprehension because residents across the West Bank are expecting more colonist attacks as we see gatherings of colonists around villages near Ramallah and elsewhere. There are calls for revenge, for blood, being circulated by Israeli colonists on social media, and as we see calls from ministers like Bezalel Smotrich, the minister of finance, who lives in an illegal colony near Tal.

He said those villages, Tal and others, must be converted into what the refugee camps in Jenin and Tulkarem were turned into – 34,000 people dispossessed and most of those refugee camps destroyed.

UN expert denounces Israeli ‘pogroms against defenceless civilians’

Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory, has accused Israeli civilians and the military of “joining forces” during escalating violence in the occupied West Bank.

Writing on X, Albanese described what she called “pogroms against defenceless civilians” across the occupied West Bank while “Gaza is under fire”.

She also called for an immediate arms embargo and a halt on trade with Israel, arguing “this is what international law requires”.

At least 6 Palestinians killed, 37 injured in Israeli strikes on Gaza

At least six people were killed and 37 wounded over the past 48 hours during Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The death toll included two deaths from prior wounds, as emergency teams remain unable to reach additional victims trapped under rubble or stranded on roads, the health ministry said.

Since the “ceasefire” took effect in October 2025, the ministry said 1,191 people have been killed and 3,853 wounded, with 803 bodies recovered.

Israel detains at least 66 Palestinians in raids across occupied West Bank

Israeli troops have arrested 66 Palestinians during overnight and early morning incursions across the occupied West Bank.

The largest raid took place in the village of Tal, south of Nablus, where 30 Palestinians were arrested, according to Wafa news agency.

Elsewhere, four people were arrested in the Ramallah governorate, five in Jenin, eight in the Hebron area, three in Bethlehem and five in Tulkarem governorate.

Israeli police also raided the town of al-Eizariya, southeast of occupied East Jerusalem, where one resident was detained.

Jordan condemns ongoing colonist attacks in occupied West Bank

Jordan has condemned the escalation of colonist attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank after four people were killed on Friday.

In a statement on X, the Foreign Ministry said ambassador Fuad al-Majali affirmed Jordan’s “absolute rejection of these condemned attacks perpetrated by Israeli colonists”.

“Which constitute an extension of the Israeli government’s extremist policies and the illegitimate Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank that fuel extremism and violence against the Palestinian people and undermine the prospects of achieving peace based on the two-state solution, holding Israel, the occupying power, responsible for these attacks,” the statement said.

“Al-Majali called on the international community to shoulder its legal and moral responsibilities, obligate Israel, the occupying power, to halt colonist attacks, hold the perpetrators of crimes accountable and ensure they are not granted impunity.”

Colonist attacks reflect ‘wider pattern of violence’

The British advocacy group Medical Aid for Palestinians says communities in and around Nablus in the occupied West Bank are facing “escalating state-backed mass colonist attacks worsening the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians”.

Aseel Baidoun, its deputy director of advocacy and campaigns, said the actions of Israeli forces and colonists over the past few days are not “isolated incidents”.

“They reflect a wider pattern of violence, intimidation and obstruction that is putting Palestinian lives at increasing risk. Without meaningful accountability, this pattern of impunity will continue,” Baidoun said.

“When hospitals are stormed, ambulances are blocked, and healthcare workers are prevented from saving lives. The UK government cannot wait until the West Bank reaches the point of no return. Palestinian communities are already living with a reality of fear, displacement, and violence. The question now is how much further this will be allowed to go.”

Israeli forces arrest another Palestinian north of Tulkarem

Israeli troops detained one person from the town of Allar, north of Tulkarem, in the occupied West Bank as incursions continue.

The official Wafa news agency, citing unnamed local sources, said soldiers stormed the town of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah, and closed the entrance to the village of Nabi Elias near Qalqilya city.

Israel is pushing ahead with its military crackdown across the occupied West Bank, arresting dozens following a shooting that killed four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers.

Qatar condemns Israeli colonist attacks on West Bank villages

Qatar has condemned attacks by Israeli colonists on villages in the occupied West Bank.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “the crimes” reflected the Israeli government’s approach of enabling colonists to commit further assaults under the protection of the Israeli military. It called on Israel to fulfil its obligations under international law, put an end to colonist attacks, and hold perpetrators accountable.

Qatar also urged the international community to provide protection for the Palestinian people. The ministry reaffirmed Doha’s “steadfast position on the justice of the Palestinian cause”.

Israeli attack on family home kills 2 Palestinians in southern Gaza

At least two Palestinians have been killed in an Israeli air strike on a family home in southern Gaza.

Several others were injured in the attack west of Khan Younis.

The Interior Ministry said Abdul Nasser Mohammed al-Maqadma, 54, the police chief in northern Gaza, was killed in an Israeli strike in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, northwest of Gaza City.

Witnesses said an Israeli drone struck a bicycle near al-Ghazali intersection in Sheikh Radwan, killing al-Maqadma and wounding others.

Israeli “ceasefire” violations involving air raids and gunfire have killed 1,191 Palestinians and injured 3,853 others since October 2025, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Saturday.

Deadly colonist attacks on Palestinians may turn Israeli support

The Israeli public cannot deny that the deadly violence in the occupied West Bank was instigated by illegal colonists on a rampage that was filmed, says political analyst Ori Goldberg.

“Nobody cannot pretend this isn’t happening. Everybody got to see it. Even Israelis who are adept at choosing what they will and will not accept is true cannot deny this,” he said from Tel Aviv.

“They saw the Jewish terrorist come into the villages and they saw the response. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not expecting the public to rise in protest in response, but I do expect this might revivify the last dregs of liberal Zionism in protest. This may be a threshold moment in what Israelis have previously termed as ‘colonist violence’ in an attempt to distance it from themselves,” Goldberg said.

Israeli military raid on Tal continues

People are trying to get home after the Israeli army announced it will lock down all the military gates and checkpoints leading in and out of Ramallah at 8pm local time (17:00 GMT) and do the same leading up to Nablus at 6pm (15:00 GMT).

If the cars can’t get through it will be very difficult for them to make it home, and they might end up spending the night on the road or be offered a room by a kind stranger, just as many had to do overnight when the attack that killed four Palestinians in Tal happened.

Nearly 100 Palestinians have been detained, numbers painted on their shirts, and the house of the person accused of attacking the soldier will be demolished, according to the army.

All the while Israeli colonists are raiding and have set up one of four illegal colony outposts in the area, near Nablus, but also here near Sinjil in the Ramallah area.

Reports of shooting in Susya, occupied West Bank

The Israeli army says that it has received reports of gunfire in the village of Susya, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli media report that an armed colonist was confronted by local Palestinians who seized his weapon and fled.

Israeli forces fire tear gas at journalists in the occupied West Bank

Several Palestinians and journalists have suffered the effects of tear gas as Israeli forces raided the town of Sarra, southwest of Nablus, according to Wafa.

Armed Israeli colonists attempted to storm the town, but locals confronted them and prevented their advance. Israeli forces then raided the town and fired a barrage of tear gas canisters, the media outlet reported.

On Friday, Israeli colonists attacked the town, assaulting three Palestinians and setting fire to six homes and five vehicles during clashes with residents who confronted them, reported Wafa reported.

In Gaza, Israel has launched a new wave of air strikes, killing at least five Palestinians and injuring six others.

At least seven Palestinians killed in Gaza since this morning

Hospital sources in Gaza say at least seven people killed and 20 wounded since this morning.

More attacks reported in the occupied West Bank

Wafa have reported a number of attacks by Israeli colonists and the Israeli military:

• Colonists seized a Palestinian citizen’s private vehicle in Khirbet al-Ras al-Ahmar, southeast of Tubas in the occupied West Bank.
• Colonists attacked Palestinian vehicles east of the city of Qalqilia and blocked the road connecting the Salfit and Qalqilia governorates. They attacked several other vehicles with stones and sticks.
• A fire broke out on Saturday evening in al-Hadaf neighbourhood, west of Jenin, after Israeli forces fired smoke and gas grenades while raiding the area.

Israeli forces tear gas journalists reporting Nablus shootout

Israeli troops fired tear gas at Palestinians and journalists in Tal a day after a deadly shootout killed four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers.

A paramedic said residents feared further violence after homes and vehicles were burned by Israeli colonists in the village.

Palestinian man killed by Israeli drone strike on Gaza

A Palestinian man called Suleiman Taysir Shammoud has died from his injuries after being targeted in an Israeli strike on the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, according to Quds News Network and Palestinian WAFA News Agency.

A WAFA correspondent said earlier that Shammoud sustained critical injuries after an Israeli drone struck Al-Mawasi, as Israeli forces carry out demolition operations east of Khan Younis. Quds later confirmed Shammoud’s death after being injured earlier in the afternoon.

Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that the death toll from Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza has risen to 73,318, with 173,961 others injured. It added that the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire took effect last October has risen to 1,192, with 3,853 people injured.

Israeli forces target Gaza’s Al-Aqsa Hospital

At least one person was killed and several injured when Israeli drones hit a group of Palestinians near Gaza’s Al-Aqsa Hospital.

Israeli army raids continue in the occupied West Bank
