Iraqi air defenses intercept drones over Erbil in north

Iraqi security sources told Al Jazeera that air defence systems intercepted drones over the northern Kurdish province of Erbil on Thursday morning.

Local media footage showed the remnants of the drones falling onto a residential area near Erbil international airport.

No injuries or casualties were reported.

It was not immediately clear where the drones were launched from or what their intended target was.

 

   

Iraq rejects sovereignty violations during high-level security talks in Saudi Arabia

Director of the office of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, affirms Iraq’s rejection of any violation of its sovereignty during high-level security talks with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh.

In a statement carried by the state-run Iraqi News Agency, al-Shammari also reiterates Baghdad’s firm commitment not to pose a threat to neighbouring countries or allow Iraqi territory to be used for attacks.
