April 18, 2026 - to present refers tp the period after the first ceasefire (April 17th) was short lived to just a few hours because Trump had refused to lift his blockade. The talks for a memorandum of understanding were already taking place since early 2025 but was reached on June 16th and signed the following day. On July 13th, Trump ended the second ceasefire out of frustration about the way how Iran used to negotiate as we've learned during the JCPOA talks of 2015. With his decision, the MoU came under threat and was due to expire on August 16, 2026.
