‘Palestinians in the occupied West Bank are effectively under lockdown’
Palestinians, in their daily life under occupation, have to manoeuvre through over a thousand Israeli military checkpoints and gates.
Once those gates are closed and the checkpoints are closed, Palestinians are under lockdown.
They understand that reality very well, and that’s why, as soon as Israel announced that it was launching a war on Iran, they took to the supermarkets and to gas stations to stock up as much as they could on supplies.
Let’s also remember that there is a deep economic crisis here, so people are short on cash, and they stocked up as much as they could, even though the Palestinian government and local authorities here assured them there is enough food stocked in each district in each city for the residents there to survive a lockdown for a few weeks.
Palestinians here have no [bomb] shelters, no public shelters. They have no way of knowing what is happening, say, with the sirens going off throughout the day.

Israel closes crossings into Gaza Strip, including Rafah
The Israeli agency tasked with coordinating government activities in Palestinian territories says that among the measures taken in the wake of Israel’s attacks on Iran is “the closure of the crossings into the Gaza Strip, among them the Rafah Crossing, until further notice”.
“The rotation of humanitarian personnel is postponed at this stage”, it said, claiming that the closure of borders will have “no effect” on the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
The number of aid trucks that have entered the Gaza Strip since the so-called “ceasefire” went into effect in October is far below the amount expected, and thousands of Palestinians are urgently awaiting medical evacuation from Gaza for treatment abroad.

Arab League says Israel seeking to ‘evade ending its occupation’ of Palestine
Maged Abdelaziz, the group’s representative to the UN, has also addressed the Security Council, saying Israel sought to start a regional war to continue its occupation of Palestinian and denial of Palestinian statehood.
“The Security Council convenes today at a pivotal moment in the history of the United Nations, a moment that unfortunately represents a glaring failure of the multilateral international system, a failure the League of Arab States has long warned against,” Abdelaziz said.
“Israel seeks, through this escalation, to evade ending its occupation of Palestinian territories, to prevent the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, and to obstruct Palestine’s admission to the UN in implementation of the two-state solution and the core principles of international legitimacy,” he added.
